One of my favorite tunes of all time and a tribute to the best frigging Captain in the history of professional sports. What became inevitable on June 7th, 1997 won’t actually occur for 48 more hours. But you just know tonite’s all about 19.
So let’s Live Blog this bitch, eh?
I’m betting HNIC will show most, if not all, of this…
Former Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman, ex-Wings Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille, Brian Leetch and Lou Lamoriello will be honored tonight during a pregame ceremony at Air Canada Centre.
The five will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday night.
The festivities will push back the start of the Wings-Leafs game by 20 minutes, for a 7:28 puck drop.

Hurricanes G Ward taken to hospital with leg cut
By RUSTY MILLER, AP Sports Writer
55 minutes agoCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP)—Carolina goaltender Cam Ward(notes) was taken to the hospital after his leg was cut by a skate during the first period of the Hurricanes’ game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.
Hurricanes spokesman Kyle Hanlin said Ward, who was helped off the ice by two trainers, went to the hospital for further evaluation.
Ward stretched to make a save while Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash(notes) skated through the crease at 7:35. It appeared Nash or a defenseman nicked Ward in the leg with a skate.
Ward knelt for a couple of minutes on the ice before he was attended to by the trainers. As he was being helped off, drops of blood hit the ice.
Michael Leighton(notes) replaced Ward in goal.

Hey bitches.
What the *#$%@& is this? Is McCrimmon playing?
Posted by Triple Deke Tyler from Lansing on 11/07/09 at 09:18 PM ET
I love how we scratched Eaves to give May 6 minutes of fightless icetime. And I love how Ericsson/Lebda have 23+ min. in combined ice time. What the fuch Babs?!??!?!

My Cornell Big Red came back from 3-1 to win 6-3; I have to think the Wings can do 3-0

I thought Eaves was scratched because his foot was still hurting from that blocked shot Thursday night.

Pavel has fallen a lot trying to stop tonite. Apparently the ice is to hard. But man, look at homer fly.

Datsyuk leading by example there. Fell down but never lost control of the puck.

Well I just got home, but I know EAves foot is bruised badly and Brad May has 1 1/2 eyes, so ...

Who am I kidding we never beat Toronto, no matter how much they suck. Funny to watch how happy they get over it though. At the Joe last year, you would have thought they just won the Cup, even though we just won the Cup.

Honestly I wasn’t being a dick with the “so….”, Pgoody, that was mere coincidence. He blocked a shot last game and bruised it.

Tomas Fleischmann with his second of the game, too - now 7-4 Washington.
Wow is Florida ever bad, but horrid defense makes for exciting hockey.

Why was that called? No one touched the puck that I saw.

Shutout jinx successful.
Next step - the “Monster” will totally get a win in this game. No question that he will shut the door after that goal and the Toronto Maple Leafs will play airtight defense in front of him.
Posted by Baroque from Michigan on 11/07/09 at 09:25 PM ET
What’s the NHL record for most SHG scored during one two minute PK?
Posted by monkey from here to Timbuktu on 11/07/09 at 09:26 PM ET
Ha. You could read Uncle Mike’s lips: “That was just a *#$%@& bad call.”

No I meant that you said “so…” first, and I wanted you to know I wasn’t mocking you, that’s all. It was just a weird coincidence that I typed that right after you did. So no worries, we can still be interweb friendz.
Just to catch me up ... how bad is this game on a scale of 1 - 10? Like a 1 would be the Wings playing the Avs in the ‘08 playoffs, and a 10 would be ..... well nevermind they just scored, so fuch it.
Posted by Triple Deke Tyler from Lansing on 11/07/09 at 09:28 PM ET
Well good thing Ericsson was out for the PK….

Crap way to celebrate the Stevie. My LB record so far this season has been for shit. I’m going to have to bench myself.
