Now we’re going to get all scientific. I’ve given you several to choose from. If you want to add more, or if there are some I’ve neglected to add, put them in the comments and I’ll place them on the poll.

OK, so here is the illogic:
1) babble’s flying circus: fun for us all but will get no play in msm: cool but insular
2) European Union: I offered this but someone pointed out that Russia was not a part of the EU. F&*$ geopolitical accuracy!
3) The Diamond Line: Got my vote! It allows to stick it to any wayward divefans and their phantom spreadcheeks…
+ it could actually catch on in the msm: imagine Barry Melrose having to talk about how great the Diamond Line is playing… you know...just before he picks San Jose to beat Detroit.

I’m sure Nathan and srt are right about that - but screw it, Monty Babcock’s Flying Circus is brilliant on so many levels it trumps all reason.

Oh yeah, this is for you IWO

and they have yet to meet the Wings (Dec 27 in Colorado)”

I know it’s too late and all but I think this has a nice ring to it (shame that Datsyuk isn’t Scandinavian):

I’m going with my heart and voting Flying Circus, whether or not it resonates with the msm. This isn’t for pandering to them, this is for us, dang it!
(Besides, all the wwl does is kiss up to Crosby and patronize hockey fans anyway. They drooled over his leadership in the game because the Penguins captain gave his stick to a defenseman who broke his--duh! ALL forwards give their sticks to defensemen, unless they are dain bramaged. Put all the hockey knowledge on the espn set together, convert it into dynamite, and there wouldn’t be enough to blow a nose. Biggest collection of dorks in captivity on the North American continent.)

Two Swedes and a Rooskie
Absolut Stoli
Two Kids and a Homer
But I have to admit Flying Circus is just too good.

what is all this official crap Chief?? I want to vote twice (x 4) and your site remembers that I already voted. Not cool. Not. Cool.

Is no one else up to watch this crucial game?? Eunuchs...all of you…

...including you Baroque…

Hey, I’m up, I’m just also doing laundry! I may be talented, but I can’t type and fold jeans at the same time.
Nice goal by Maltby there.
Although I wonder if the Southeastern refs haven’t realized what a penalty is near the goaltender. Poor Homer. :(
Posted by Baroque from Michigan on 10/20/07 at 10:37 PM ET
poor Lilja, those Maltby critics will be looking for someone else to rag on for a few games.

And why didn’t some smart brain in the front office decide to switch sides for the “C” on the Phoenix jerseys? It looks like the coyote is balancing a C-shaped treat on his nose like a well-trained puppy? Stupid.

Anybody else see the Toronto-Chicago game earlier?
Leaves had a 3-1 lead going into the third period and lost 6-4. Blackhawks were skating circles around them.
Posted by Baroque from Michigan on 10/20/07 at 11:00 PM ET
Yep, this is my third game today, just can’t stay away from original six hockey. The Don even said nice things about a certain x-Wing european. If you watched it all the way till the Vancouver switch over.
#34 Brad Meier
#38 Francois StLaurent
Only 7 minors so far, but they’ve got both Gretzky and Babblecock baffled.

The game-winning-goal scorer, perhaps?
Glad to see Chicago actually gained some talent from the years of being crappy. Kane and Toews are both outstanding. (Although with his mop of curly hair, Kane looks about 12.)

got a bit to say about Toronto, check my blog tomorrow afternoon.
Lang unselfishly passed the empty net goal, I was surprised the Don mentioned it because he wasn’t a good canadian boy.
oops, game over gotta switch to the EDM game

I will. But now it’s time for me to crash. ‘Night, all! Nice western road trip.

Hey IWO, a little help here..
I can’t remember who the photo-shop master is, but I need a photo of an eveready bunny with Jeremy Roenick’s face. I will post it and give full credits.
Posted by HockeyTownTodd on 10/21/07 at 12:08 PM ET
Since there’s no game thread to post this in...what was with Datsyuk doing the digging and grinding behind the net on Zetterberg’s goal?! How many guys do you have to put on him to get the puck? Obviously three isn’t enough. Is there anything he can’t do? And Holmstrom with the soft-touch setup pass...that goal was all out of whack.

I still think that The Flying Circus is the best choice, if only because I’d so love to hear the Liberty Bell March when they score a goal.

The Red Line—it’s got everything - Motor City connotations, hitting overdrive, flooring it, the uniforms. Come on—it’s perfect.

Hey all, (Chief, feel free to delete this if I’m violating anything)
I have three tickets to sell this Friday’s game against the Sharks. Section 225B, Row 22: I paid $63 for each and am looking to break even. I’ll be there--have to be to pick up the tickets--so we can have a blogger (or commenter) outing.
Email me at if you’re interested.
George, Baroque… I’m looking at you…

Good suggestions. Suprised no one suggested “The FireD Up on Ice Line!” A little mrketing tie in for the Front Office. That said, The Monty Babcock Flying Circus get’s my vote!

This may be old news, but today a between-segments blurb on XM Home Ice mentioned this poll and A2Y by name. Pretty cool stuff!

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

"Hell, I guarantee the content co-opters at Abel to Yzerman were about to link this article under the heading “Bitter Blues Fans” again right up until they just read that last half-sentance. Thanks but no thanks, you Kukla hangers-on."
--St. Louis Game Time
"I realize it’s the slow summer season, but can this guy tone down the tough-guy histrionics? His posts are fatiguing on an otherwise excellent site."
--A2Y Fan, Eternal_Fields
"I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season."
--Mile High Hockey
"I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…"
--In The Cheap Seats
"It's just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don't deserve their team."
--Thhom
"I really don’t care what fans or bloggers think."
--Drew Sharp
"Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players? I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better."
--A2Y Fan, Jeff Beaumont
"Have you ever *read* A2Y? Its the most opinionated, juvenile stuff i've read."
--Paul Nicholson
"I actually like the Detroit team and have a sh&% load of respect for them, but their fans are the biggest douches next to Canadians."
