A muddy track deepinthehearta. Sloggy and slushy. Haze frigging gray and underway. As it should be.
Wings win tonite? Game, set, series. Wings lose? Start shoveling coal because we’ve got ourselves a Stress Train Special.
It’s a Game 3 Live Blog. Commence your conversations. The only mandate is juvenilicity. I’ll join you when they drop the puck.
Updated 1940 EST: Wanna guess who said this?
“We don’t think much of them on a personal, character level. We think that’s to our advantage.”
Yep. Turco.

Sammuelsson you idiot

Wings are due a makeup call.

I freakin’ LOVE breakaways.
As does the hideously laughing crazy Turckey. Dats can have one please before the night is out?
Oh, and Sammy getting the lone penalty there is bullshit.

Something to keep in mind…we seem to be rolling out third and fourth lines a ton tonight. Lots of grinders out there…malts, drake seeing a lot of ice time. Someone already said this, but I think that bodes well for us as this game goes on.
The thought of a fresh Z midway through the third…that makes me happy
Posted by disch from bat country on 05/12/08 at 08:29 PM ET
Thanks Disch—my thoughts exactly
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 05/12/08 at 08:30 PM ET
Thanks Chief, I had my eyes down at that moment. Same move he made for Mule’s OT goal against Bubba Jr. Man, what vision…
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor on 05/12/08 at 08:31 PM ET
Is it just me, or is Dallas looking worn out already?
Posted by BuzzFledderjohn on 05/12/08 at 08:31 PM ET
On the PK, when I see Lidstrom with the puck, I feel warm. Has he ever NOT cleared?

Indeed. Gettin a couple of power shifts from the Circus, but the other lines are definitely doing their share.

No DAL shots on the PP
DAL has to score and they cant even get a shot
Their emotion is going
They are out of gas
Lebda just flew past Richards
And getting the loose pucks
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 05/12/08 at 08:34 PM ET
Oh please, if Lundquist ‘had that,’ how come Helm didn’t?
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor on 05/12/08 at 08:34 PM ET
Whoever said the 3rd and 4th lines are rolling a lot was on the money. Uncle Mike’s an evil genius.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 05/12/08 at 08:34 PM ET
If the Hudler-Helm-Mac line gets it going tonight, can we call them the Happy Double-D line?
+1

Either that ice is as bad as Michigan Ave. or Homer is having some difficulty.
Posted by jrl123 on 05/12/08 at 08:36 PM ET
I wonder if Homer lost an edge because of the ice, or just ran out of gas.
Posted by Jennemy of the Skate from putting the b*tches in the box on 05/12/08 at 08:36 PM ET
Oh, Homer…Please get a deflection to atone for that.

Chief, my nickname is Dr. Evil!!!
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 05/12/08 at 08:37 PM ET
Jeff, you definitely got to that thought first…just reiterating…
Things I’m predicting for the rest of the game…
The Kronner nightly decapitation
Something retardedly awesome from Z
A pretty goal from Dallas
A softie let in my Marsha
**Oh damn, Homer…that clip isn’t going to do anything about that rep for not being able to skate in a straight line
Posted by disch from bat country on 05/12/08 at 08:37 PM ET
That ice is horrible. Not disputing that Homer’s hurting, but it’s nothing but slush.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 05/12/08 at 08:37 PM ET
I agree Andrew—I’m thinking DAL is playing on emotion—I really think they have little or no gas in the tank.
Roll 4 lines, and survive until the last 1/2 of the game

Modano, you are NOT impressing the Stars’ Ice Babes
Posted by Matt from Chicago on 05/12/08 at 08:40 PM ET
Mike Babcock at intermisssion: “Win this period bitches. Win this period and we’re five games from the Cup. Did you get that close last year Jeeri? Don’t answer that. Todd, get me an oreo and a fresca. Bitches. You’re all bitches. End this thing.”
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 05/12/08 at 08:41 PM ET
Homer?? the hell was that???
Timmay!!
Posted by O-Joe on 05/12/08 at 08:41 PM ET
Poor Homer. Nobody ever accused him of being a set up man w/out his ass in the face of a Turkey.
Posted by MOWingsFan19 from KC MO on 05/12/08 at 08:42 PM ET
Chief—I’m really hoping for the Kronner decapitation on that OTT bastard!!
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 05/12/08 at 08:42 PM ET
Still up by one at the intermission again.
I say it all the time, but let’s have a lockdown third, or an insurance goal.
TSN thinks that the Stars are getting scarred by the way the keep having the momentum sucked out of them with each Wings score.
And keep an eye out for Modano—if he’s gone from the third, that’ll be great. He’s been their best player out there tonight.
Posted by AndrewFromAnnArbor on 05/12/08 at 08:43 PM ET
Homer was trying that Z special 360 backhand. I hear he’s been getting it in practice.
Posted by lilja4ever on 05/12/08 at 08:43 PM ET
Random Observation: Got to love how strong the euro twins look on the forecheck. Makes you wonder what the hell Grapes is looking at when he’s calling the sweedes soft.

Thanks WB. It’s what I do. All day.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 05/12/08 at 08:44 PM ET
I’ll tell you what fellas, from a neutral standpoint, that was the best period of hockey I’ve seen all season.
I liked Doc’s jab at basketball:
“Somebody call a timeout!”
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 05/12/08 at 08:45 PM ET
from VS: Wings are 24-6 all time (in best-of-7 series) when they win the first two games, and 15-2 since 1995.
Posted by PaulinMiamiBeach on 05/12/08 at 08:46 PM ET
Iwo.
Add to that, get me a handful of nails to chew before the 3rd. Bitches.
I like the Mule Skinner in Uncle Mike he drives the dogs.
Posted by MOWingsFan19 from KC MO on 05/12/08 at 08:46 PM ET
2nd Period
03:47 Brad Richards, Wrist Shot - Assists: Loui Eriksson and Joel Lundqvist
11:54 Jiri Hudler, Backhand - Assists: Niklas Kronvall and Darren McCarty
SHOTS ON GOAL 1st 2nd T
Detroit 7 7 14
Dallas 7 7 14
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 05/12/08 at 08:46 PM ET
Steve, agreed. Great period of hockey. But if Doc had said, “I itch. Edzo…powder, hurry,”, you’d be liking that too. Don’t fret. We feel the same about Mick.

Ribero the intermission interview?
Posted by disch from bat country on 05/12/08 at 08:46 PM ET
The Chief is the most diligent student of the Babcock Way of Speech that I know.
Turckey not inspiring confidence in the team. Big surprise. Doubt, doubt, doubt creeping into their minds, and the commentators doubt that the Stars have an answer.
