As usual, I’ve pouted all morning, moping around like Bubba when the possum runs out.
Acting like a little bitch is what I’ve been doing. Sad little Sailor. Woe is me because the Wings lose one playoff game. Oh, the tragedy. Well, something snapped me out of my martyrdom. Wanna see it?
K.
You know, when Dominik Hasek gives up a goal, maybe Mike Babcock should bring in Chris Osgood for a few minutes. When you have the best bullpen in town, you might as well use it.
Wanna guess the message board? Nope. Nope. And nope. The Free Press’ Steve Schrader.
Look dude. You wanna call for a goalie change? Fine. Thousands have joined you on that one. But bringing Osgood in for a little relief work after Bubba scores, “for a few minutes”? Idiot.
Three games in 6 nights is what Hasek just did, for the first time this year. Was the schedule that brutal last year? Don’t remember. But if not, it may be the first time in 3 or 4 years he’s been tasked with that kind of workload.
Arnott’s shot? Glove side wasn’t it? If I were Arnott, I’d be shooting high on a 43-year old goalie playing his 3rd in 6 and in the 57th minute. Hard to raise those arms I’ll bet.
My point? If he was tired, if that was the cause, why should tomorrow night be any better? Do you start Osgood?
Hell no and Hell no again. Now, if he tells Uncle Mike that he’s feeling weary and wary? Maybe. Of course, we know by now that that crazy motherfu**r’s not going to go to the coach and say he’s too tired to play.
You don’t replace your goalie because you lose Game 3 and maintain a 2-1 lead. In fact, the Wings don’t have to change much at all.
You don’t think last night was the wakeup call of all wakeup calls? That problem with a lack of focus after goals? I’d bet it’s done. Everybody’s got a plan until they get punched in the face, said Mike Tyson. I could have sworn I’d heard that before. The Wings will fix that issue. How can I say that? Because it wasn’t anything we saw in the regular season, never a hint of it. It’s new and it’s correctable. If it isn’t then the majority opinion about Mike Babcock is grossly wrong.
Read a few message boards this morning, people whining that the Wings played too defensively in the third. Oh, shut the hell up already. They played brilliantly in the third, after the Dats goal and right up to the Suter goal. It was textbook, road, playoff, one-goal lead hockey. It was ‘98 Wing hockey and it was flawless. Bubba was beaten and the SoGay was lulled to sleep.
One issue that did result from last night that will need to be dealt with...the awakening of Arnott, Radulov, Hlavic and Legwand. Especially Arnott. You have to think Bubba will key off his contribution.
Wings in 5? Yep. And if not, Wings in 6. This team will not lose to that team, not this year.
If you listen to XM Radio Home Ice, you would think this series is over, it’s amazing how the media can go from saying 2 weeks ago that Nashville is bad to saying now they are a contender for the Cup. Pierre McGuire, I hope that possum butt tastes good. It’s one game, it’s one that the Wings should have won, but they have won in the Trailer Park Rink before and they will again.
