You’re damn right I switched to Seger. It’s not Night Moves.
Name it.
Then finish it. Please.

I’ve moved my chair away from the TV for this game, as I plan to spend the next few hours on the floor, in the fetal position.
Posted by scheisskopf on 05/19/08 at 06:22 PM ET
Bob Seger on Andreas Lilja:
“Working on mysteries without any clues. Working on night moves.”
Posted by RWBill from the Capital of the Confederacy. on 05/19/08 at 06:30 PM ET
It’s my favorite Seger song Gabe. It’s got to do the trick.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 05/19/08 at 06:32 PM ET
I’ll go fetal when it’s appropriate… until then I’m pissed and I’m lookin’ for something to break. Screw kitty… I’m lookin’ for bigger fish to fry. You know, the neighbors bratty little kid has had this coming for a long time. Call me an old bag of wind, will ya? Come on over, I’ve got Grand Theft Auto IV, with a new ending.
Posted by Mike from La-La Land on 05/19/08 at 06:32 PM ET
Reverse mojo - I like it.
But still…
Posted by TeamDub from Bitterly clinging. on 05/19/08 at 06:32 PM ET
Should have switched to seger last game but I can understand wanting to holdout one more game (like sammy on 2nd line). you cut me deep Lightfoot, real deep.......
Posted by Jockey full of bourbon on 05/19/08 at 06:33 PM ET
more cowbell, i get it “ Explore the space, baby “
Posted by RWBill from the Capital of the Confederacy. on 05/19/08 at 06:34 PM ET
You’re right DJ. Lightfoot finally hurt us. Even after I pulled out the big guns with the musty old hall in Detroit line.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 05/19/08 at 06:36 PM ET
see you guys for the puck drop. have to go out and pretend that I give a shit that my garage is a mess.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 05/19/08 at 06:37 PM ET
Chief: I know we gotta do something to “shake up” the mojo.
But, so far the Wings have won 11 with the Banner posted—gotta (I think) post Lidstrom.
And here is some serious, serious mojo. Today, at 4:46 pm CST, my neice was born. Her name, Peyton Hope!
I’m feeling it tonite!! And praying Lilja watches this game from the press-box!!!
Posted by Jeff - - OklahomaWingNut from Wind-Swept-Plains on 05/19/08 at 06:38 PM ET
Pfffft, I’ll take a snap of the ghetto-fab garage, Chief - she’s in true playoff form. I have the equivalent of Ghana’s GDP in PBR cans saved up for… something.
Posted by TeamDub from Bitterly clinging. on 05/19/08 at 06:39 PM ET
Oh, and RWBill, gets the nod for the first good chuckle of the night:
Bob Seger on Andreas Lilja:
“Working on mysteries without any clues. Working on night moves.”
Posted by Jeff - - OklahomaWingNut from Wind-Swept-Plains on 05/19/08 at 06:39 PM ET
Congratulations Jeff, and all I care is that if Lilja plays he just doesn’t hurt us.
More mojo: submit word hope45
Posted by Mike from La-La Land on 05/19/08 at 06:42 PM ET
Don’t get me wrong, Bill...it’s a great song...but...but…
<heavy sigh>
Alright. I’m in. My drink will be poured in 15 minutes. And RWBill, I can find something from Segar a little more appropriate…
Hmm…
There you stood, everybody watched you play
I just turned and walked away
I had nothing left to say‘Cause you’re still the same
You’re still the same
Moving game to game
Some thlngs never change
You’re still the same
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 05/19/08 at 06:42 PM ET
If they don’t pull it together we may have to get drastic with Bowie’s “Panic in Detroit”.
Posted by Jockey full of bourbon on 05/19/08 at 06:42 PM ET
Thanks TD—good omen, damn good omen. You know like finding a $20 in your favorite jacket
Posted by Jeff - - OklahomaWingNut from Wind-Swept-Plains on 05/19/08 at 06:42 PM ET
Oh shizzle… my digi cable box is saying Vs. has “World Extreme Cagefighting” on at 8:00.
I guaran-damn-tee there’ll be some cage fighting if this is truly the case…
Posted by TeamDub from Bitterly clinging. on 05/19/08 at 06:43 PM ET
Thanks Mike:
If Lilja plays, does he take Chelis place on the PK? Where incidentally, Cheli has been a freaking machine.
Posted by Jeff - - OklahomaWingNut from Wind-Swept-Plains on 05/19/08 at 06:44 PM ET
Cleaning the garage while your team is still in the playoffs is worse than changing your underwear.
I thought the duke-ess knew her hockey.
Posted by HockeyTownTodd on 05/19/08 at 06:44 PM ET
Congrats to Jeff’s family. And Chief don’t worry about the damn garage, in 3 hours you might be out there throwing any non-human creature off the walls anyhoo.
What to watch, blonde chic in Big Bang (mmph!) Theory or Bony chic in Bones. Not much else on at 8 o’clock.
Posted by RWBill from the Capital of the Confederacy. on 05/19/08 at 06:46 PM ET
I don’t even get off of work until 8:30. hell is watching that stupid little ticker on nhl.com.
Posted by Jockey full of bourbon on 05/19/08 at 06:46 PM ET
The PK is where Lilja has played before so I don’t see Uncle Mike changing that now.
Posted by Mike from La-La Land on 05/19/08 at 06:47 PM ET
Oh, she knows. She was just asking me to take a look-see for future reference, a reminder of what the weekend holds in store should...nevermind.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 05/19/08 at 06:47 PM ET
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.
“BRING IT ON”!
Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!
Posted by Kate from Pa. on 05/19/08 at 06:48 PM ET
No pretty plays tonite gang. Its 100 degrees here and I’m 120 mile north of DAL.
Ice will be about as hard as the guys lining up to purchase enzyte.
Posted by Jeff - - OklahomaWingNut from Wind-Swept-Plains on 05/19/08 at 06:48 PM ET
excuse me...why is there no pregame on either VS or CBC?
hockey coverage sucks these days.
NBC had what they called a “brief pre-game show” on Saturday. it was 10 minutes of commercials.
Posted by PaulinMiamiBeach on 05/19/08 at 06:49 PM ET
Well here I am hiding under my seat after our proud little Napoleon ruined my Saturday twice. All breakable objects have been cleared in a 20 ft radius of the television in case nearby objects spontaneously turn into projectiles (laptop clamped to the coffee table).
Lets rock and roll.
Posted by Nate A from metro Detroit on 05/19/08 at 06:49 PM ET
Thanks guys—the mojo is with us, I’m certain.
Yoda - “Try not. Do or do not.”
Posted by Jeff - - OklahomaWingNut from Wind-Swept-Plains on 05/19/08 at 06:50 PM ET
Lilja may not be a bad move, he plays a lot of PK anyhoo, he might just want to go out and bang hard, but chances are he’ll drop the puck right in front of his own goalie like my cat leaves a dead bird at my feet on the deck.
Posted by RWBill from the Capital of the Confederacy. on 05/19/08 at 06:51 PM ET
Not true, Paul. They also checked on the Preakness. You know, like 4 hours before the race.
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 05/19/08 at 06:51 PM ET
I’m thinking the Wings have had enough of this shit. At least that is what I am hoping.
Posted by Jeff - - OklahomaWingNut from Wind-Swept-Plains on 05/19/08 at 06:53 PM ET
Yes Jeff I know I’ve had enough of this sh1t, I’m sure they have too. They won’t want to give up any early goals, Dallas is a 8itch when playing with a lead.
Posted by RWBill from the Capital of the Confederacy. on 05/19/08 at 06:54 PM ET
I spent a great majority of today feeling very confident, almost happy. It was an odd sort of calm. That’s all gone now. I considered switching from Yuengling to a new brand. A few friends had suggested Landshark. I couldn’t do it. When we play Pittsburgh? I’m definitely switching. Yuengling’s brewed in PA and we just can’t have that.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 05/19/08 at 06:56 PM ET
Glad I got my seat early, stress train is PACKED!
Posted by Jockey full of bourbon on 05/19/08 at 06:57 PM ET
Chief - Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, a good Michigan brew, or another India Pale Ale in the great British Naval tradition. High hops and high alcohol content.
Posted by RWBill from the Capital of the Confederacy. on 05/19/08 at 06:59 PM ET
Online feed linkee anyone?
Posted by Scott H from Kalamazoo on 05/19/08 at 06:59 PM ET
Dave, I think I may have. It might have been 5.
RWB: I’m going with Bell’s. It has to be a Michigan product.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 05/19/08 at 07:00 PM ET
There are many ways one can perceive the game. IMO, the Wings are either going to play like their freaking life depended on it—and win.
Or they are not properly prepared to play.
I’ve got faith, quite alot actually, in Uncle Mike. This is his 3rd trip to the playoffs with the Wings. No-one wants it more than him, I am sure. They’ll be ready tonight to plays balls to the walls.
Or they will not.
Posted by Jeff - - OklahomaWingNut from Wind-Swept-Plains on 05/19/08 at 07:00 PM ET
“Sometime in Game 4 the winds shifted to the Stars.” Yeah, Emerick you tool, the wind shifted after the Wings got shafted.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 05/19/08 at 07:01 PM ET
Night Moves eh.....
Think Seger and “Get Out of Denver” and smile....
time to roll on....
Go Wings!!

Can one get Bell’s out here in the DC-MD area?

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

How Others View The A2Y 19
"Hell, I guarantee the content co-opters at Abel to Yzerman were about to link this article under the heading “Bitter Blues Fans” again right up until they just read that last half-sentance. Thanks but no thanks, you Kukla hangers-on."
--St. Louis Game Time
"I realize it’s the slow summer season, but can this guy tone down the tough-guy histrionics? His posts are fatiguing on an otherwise excellent site."
--A2Y Fan, Eternal_Fields
"I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season."
--Mile High Hockey
"I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…"
--In The Cheap Seats
"It's just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don't deserve their team."
--Thhom
"I really don’t care what fans or bloggers think."
--Drew Sharp
"Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players? I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better."
--A2Y Fan, Jeff Beaumont
"Have you ever *read* A2Y? Its the most opinionated, juvenile stuff i've read."
--Paul Nicholson
"I actually like the Detroit team and have a sh&% load of respect for them, but their fans are the biggest douches next to Canadians."
--KStewy, PensBlog Commenter
Beautiful Loser....seriously?
I’m sure if I look around I can find a song called “The Last Days of Detroit"…
For shame, Chief.
