Hitchcock Steps Away From Trough Just Long Enough To Talk Some Trash

Wow. In a stunning turn of events, Columbus health nut Ken Hitchcock is apparently willing to do more than just babble and shove burgers down his pie hole. Now, he’s using his mouth in new and creative ways. Example?
“I don’t want to just stay in the (playoff) mix,” Hitchcock told the Columbus Dispatch Wednesday. “I want to go and chase Detroit (atop the Central Division). I’m tired of watching Detroit in first place. I’d like to chase them.
“I mean, somewhere along the line, somebody’s got to make them bleed, and it might as well be us.”
I’m sure his players are thrilled.

Pretty tough to take something someone says serious with a title and comments like the ones used here. You can debate the comments without the pre-school childish comments.
I’m embarrassed for you.

Bizarre choice of words. Chase Detroit?
Come on, if I’m dead last in Indianapolis, and the winner overlapped me 72 times, I’m still on a chase!
Ken: chase and challenge mean different things.

As if the Red Wings needed MORE motivation coming off of a SCF Game 7 loss….Good job, Hitch. Ass.

Considering how high Hitchcock has been on us for the last few years, I can understand where he’s coming from. Also, it’s not like Columbus’ coach can tell his players “Detroit still does everything better than you, man I wish I was coaching them”.
Still, that back-handed bitching about cheating in the faceoff circles during the playoffs was a bitch move.
Also a bitch move, using sock puppets.

Hmmm… The Red Wings have won the Central Division 8 straight times. Michigan has lost 5 straight to Ohio State. Which streak ends first?
Hitch is just being a coach. He wants to raise the expectations that the players have for themselves and this is one way to do it. Offer to buy him a dozen donuts and he’ll tell you the truth—-There is no way in Hell that C-bus finishes ahead of both Detroit and Chicago in the divisional race this year.

You know you’re in trouble when someone who speaks English as a second (or third) language has a better choice of words than you.
As I said in the KK thread: You bleed every month coach, is that enough?

I’m actually worried.
Oh wait… Columbus hasn’t somehow found a way to clone Nash 22 times.
Nevermind.

Growing up Christ had a middle name in our house, but it sure didn’t start with an H…also used to work with a guy who was always getting bitched at by the GM. The coworker was Mike & the GM seemed to think the coworkers name was “Jesus Christ Mike” cause that’s what he always referred to his as.

Take a good look at that CBJ roster and tell me that team isnt going to provide any pressure on the Wings this year.
Did the Wings get better in the offseason? NO…lost Hudler and Hossa.
Did the CBJ get better in the offseason? YES..Brassard, Filatov, and even a little ball of hate Sammy Pahlsson.
The core group of the CBJ is a year older and that is a good thing, unlike Detroit where that is a bad thing.
Hitch picks his spots to make comments…and this one is warranted. The Central is going to be a dogfight this year. Not sure if the CBJ is going to be the team push the Wings or not, but it wont be an easy run to another Central Division title for the Motor City this year.

Hey, we lost Kopecky too, ya jerk!
Columbus will be better this year and Hitch knows it’ll take a herculean effort by his guys to compete in the Central against the likes of Detroit and Chicago. Despite the crap we give him, I do appreciate how blunt he is when it comes to approaching these issues. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing the BJs stomp Chicago’s collective mudhole and get second in the division.

little ball of hate Sammy Pahlsson.
Sorry, that nick name has been spoken for long ago along with Big Ball of Hate as well. Pahlsson is toothless compared to those who earned that moniker.
I have little issue with Hitch in general, he’s a solid bench boss, just his appearance makes him an easy target for the photoshop smart kids of the 19.

DeathCabforWoody
Nash, Mason, Brassard (if healthy), a high end prospect and a no-name defense that does a dencent job in their own end but can’t move the puck. There’s no way that team should put any pressure on a team as talented as the Wings unless they’re playing the spoiler role in a Wings-Hawks race for the title in April - and I don’t think either of them have a chance, the Wings aren’t that different from the team that humilated both Chicago and Columbus in the playoffs last summer.

Nor was it last year, seeing as FOUR teams made the playoffs from the Central with the 5th only 3 points out.
It’s not like the Jackets were anywhere near toppling the Wings last year. Yeah, the picked up Brassard and Pahlsson. Those guys are going to make up the TWENTY POINT GAP in the standings between the Wings and the Jackets?

A ten game improvement with Mason in goal the entire season (started in Nov), Brassard for a whole season, and actually goal scoring capbilities on the fourth line with Filatov….add that to the losses of Hudler, Hossa, and Kopecky…
That could lessen 20 pt gap to a very interesting race in the central. I’m just sayin’

That’s assuming that Mason isn’t a flash in the pan, and Brassard’s shoulder holds up, oh and no way Filatov is a fourth line player, he’s either top 2 lines or he’s in the AHL again. Plus you say everything about our losses and nothing about our additions…like say 3 possible 20+ goal scorers. And that 20 point gap seems just about right.

Yes because you seemed to ENTIRELY miss Drew’s point. But no, you’re right actually. His point is that we lost Hudler, Hossa, Sammy and Hossa’s fluffer while replacing them ONLY with Bertuzzi.
Don’t follow much hockey, do ya? K, I’ll leave you alone. You can get back to hoping it cools down soon so you can wear a big blue sweater that has stars on is and says BJs really big on it and did I mention it has stars? Oh boy!
