Next entry: Grigorenko Wants a Shot With Datsyuk

Previous entry: Loose Ends

It’s a Frigging Three Ringer

Once again, the A2Y readers have spoken in numbers that astound even the most jaded of attendance counters at JLA.  129 of you chimed in to name the Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom line.  Long winded? Yes. Cumbersome? Yes.  Begging for brevity? Naturally.  Funny?  Absolutely.

I don’t know who first came up with it, and I’m too lazy to look.  But here you go:

The Monty Babcock Flying Circus

Shorten it?  Yes, we must.  The BFC line on second reference?  Cirque De La (bab)Cock?  Too Divish, but perhaps.  We’ll start the live blog now, soliciting your input on more action brought to you by Gary Lenore Bettman.  Considering the opponent, we can only wonder if Alana(H) will show.  Remember:  discussion between the first and second periods will focus on the bust/future success that is Igor Grigorenko.

1933: Center Ice has the FSN Detroit feed. Nice to hear Mick again after a week or so.  Murphy was ok, but everytime I have to see his hair between periods I get sad.

1937: Woops. Check out the poll at C and B.

1949: Provincial panic. They’ve lost the TSN feed in Canada.  Mickey Redmond just said Mitchell was scared of Datsyuk. Mick called Mitchell “Datysuk’s bitch.” No not really. But that would have been neat. Downey’s on the ice.

1958:  Didn’t see anything but the tail end of that “penalty” but it appears to be standard Homerism.  Tired of it.  Tired I say. Mick’s gonna go nuts if that’s a bogus call.  We need to investigate this conspiracy.

2000: Ehhhh, touchy.  Hard to argue with that, but it’s still anti-Homer bias.  That’s based on my 2003 draft analysis/point paper.

2015:  Igor Grigorenko.  Discuss.  Prediction: back to Russia no later than 2 November.

2033:  Woofrigginghoo. Good call Gramps. First PP for the Wings.  “Ironically Vancouver’s first penalty...” That’s Ken Daniels. Based on the last three games, there’s no irony there at all.

2035
: Official scorer or not, that’s Homer’s goal.  40 goals this year: guaranteed.

2053:  Our Czech Miracle of Insanity looks particularly sharp tonite.  The lone Vancouver goal: fluke, or as flukey as any goal in the NHL is when you discount the hard work that leads up to it.  Mick’s whining about the Kessler penalty, and he should. Pathetic.  Forgot to mention Mick’s reference to Saginaw and Bay City tonite.  Nice.

2103: Oh...Alanahhhhhhhhh

2107:  Hard to believe there’s a PP unit in the league that can move the puck like Lidstrom, Rafalski, and the Circus line.  28-11 shots for Wings.  Hat trick on the way for Homer.

2109: I guess I’ve asked this before, but does it make me a “bad sport” to root against the Rockies simply because there has to be at least one Dive fan out there who wants them to win?

2123: Babcock just referenced the Wings speed, along with everyone else who discusses this team.  Interesting, I never consider speed a Wing asset.

2127
: Grampa Pinhead, 46 minutes ago: “Remember the Scotty saying taking a 2 goal lead into the third is a coach’s nightmare.”

Vancouver sadness, Detroit domination.

Babcock is smiling.

Hudler just fought both the waterheads and scored a double K.O.

... or something remotely similar to that.

Apparently, Vancouver should not be worried about Zetterberg nearly as much as Ellis.

Either that should have been a penalty, or the Homer shouldn’t have been.

Oh, I’m not complaining about it.

One of these games, Ellis has to score a goal that he actually sees go in so he doesn’t have to wait until the replay to appreciate it.

Wings will see some pp time now, they are trailing 0-3 on minor penalties.  Refs will try to even it up before the game ends.

It would take a turnaround of epic proportions for Grigs to make the team. Realistically, it isn’t even worth discussing. Ellis is playing fantastic, Downey is fitting in, adding a tough physical presence. And hey, typical Homer goal right there. Nice.

A statement as bold as that rates right up there with Kitna’s guarantee the Lions will win 10.

Except Chief’s statement is more accomplishable.

Yes, the officiating sucks.  I’m thinking the refs got their whistles out of a gumball machine and they’re having a bubble blowing contest.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

"It's just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don't deserve their team."

"Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players? I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better."
