Next entry: Game 5a

Previous entry: Niyo: Lidstrom’s “C"hance Comes Tonite

It’s Almost Full

Update 2157:  Faithful readers of A2Y know that there is only one available option when the Wings are down 1-0 after 1 in an elimination game.  That’s right, a block of pleasing cheddar.

image

I’ve taken that step and I fully intend to eat the entire thing by the ten minute mark of the second.  I expect a positive second because of that personal sacrifice.

Update 1916:  According to Boy Wonder John Niyo, it’s looking bleak for Bert.

But I’d call him doubtful for Game 6 at this point, based on his body language, among other things. He spent 15 minutes in the training room and conferred with team doctors and trainer Piet Van Zant after practice, then left the arena without speaking to the media.

Oh good God.  If you’re looking to board, you must hurry. I can’t say that strongly enough.  The Stress Train is full and I can’t guarantee you a spot.

Keys to victory tonite: I have no idea.  Bertuzzi’s apparently a game-time deal and Uncle Mike can’t form a sentence worth reading.

It’s basically can a guy go, can a guy not go.

Thanks Mike.

But, look below…that bad boy is filling up and if you’re not on it’s your own damn fault.

I think I’m the one down there in front…yup, right in front where the cow catcher should be.

Early boarding call! Woo-hoo!

I’m on…and I brought extra Maalox and barf bags to share with my fellow passengers.

I have to go out and won’t be near a TV until 11:00.  I have no idea if that is a good thing or a bad thing.  I’m as incoherent as Babcock right now, and even the voices in my head are nervous and whimpering.

How did I ever make it through the playoff run in 2002 without my head exploding?!?!?!

That’s nothing, really.  In Somalia, they can pack that many people on little S-10’s!  (I’ve seen it)! That being said, I don’t think they even know what hockey is, resulting in not knowing what a stress train is.  So for all they know, they think they’re heading to the market.  1 camel hoof for a duck.

Holy whaaa…  considering your baggage, I think we’d make room for you - and a hundred more just like ya!

Now hold on.  It was never my intent to promote the use of alcohol as a means to defray any stress related to tonite’s insignificant game.

Oh.  Yes it was.  Sorry.

Well, last time I left Erithrea the DC-10 was so crowded all I could see through the window was another man’s sacrum!

Thank God for PBR, peyote and Depends.

Not necessarily in that order.

Ummm, sorry to do this, but I gotta drop a few off…

They were a-monkeyin’ with my PBR & peyote stash, and that is simply unacceptable.

Enjoy (?!) the game everyone, game 7 will be even worse.

(P.S. - Service for Gramps was today, thanks to all who passed their well-wishes, much appreciated. http://tinyurl.com/25gucy)

TeamDub, that pic was awesome! ahhh…third world countries are always good for a few laughs…

I have to deal with my insane sis-in-law so I’m not riding the stress train yet. Nope, I’m already hanging by my neck on one of those mailbag hooks. You can pick me up after the Wings win 4-1 tonight, after Dom and Lids are named first and second star. (I wrote that earlier but want to make sure everyone hears me and can applaud my spider senses after the game).

If you scroll down and look at the “Stanley Cup Finals” tab, they already have the Ducks and Sens matched up. Where is the original six loyalty you bastards??

Man, what an awful start. Not looking good, Wings are laboring to get anything in front of the net.

Something big needs to happen soon.

None of this would be happening if Steve Yzerman was playing.  His teams rarely got past the first round.

Upon further review…I should have said “His teams usually didn’t get past the first round.  And he couldn’t win a Cup until they jacked up the budget, brought in Fedorov and Lidstrom to cover for him and brought in the greatest coach in history.”

I’d feel guilty about doing this, but I’ve forgotten what it felt like in February when the Oilers got eliminated.

You could excuse my sins then Chief, for they were clearly out of love for my team, as opposed to distaste for yours.

Feel free to stop by my site and have a chuckle when Pronger is skating around the ice with the Cup and the Oilers have just used their highest draft pick since 1994 in a terrible draft class and probably drafted someone who will be out of professional hockey in three years.

Well, it was a heck of a ride, I’ll miss my fellow passengers on the stress train.  MC79hockey - I just doubt we’ll see Chris Pronger skating with the Cup, the hockey gods just couldn’t be that cruel.
