Shielded? Nick’s Gonna Give It A Go, But Not Tuesday

Stand by for the Diggers.  Khan(!) reporting that Lidstrom is in for the pivotal Wednesday matchup with Atlanta, but probably not Datsyuk.  Helene St. James, competitor that she is, also reports Norris will attempt to play with a visor on a permanent basis, but not on Tuesday.  How does she know?

Because, as usual…

I just spoke to Nicklas Lidstrom…

Read the rest here if you want, but I always get so damned excited just reading that she actually spoke to a Wing, I just get so flustered.

Cynical?  Oh..yes. I’m sorry about that.  But I just find it amusing that Diggette St. James feels the need to insert herself into every blog post, or nearly every one.  What’s wrong with the old standbys, “Lidstrom said,” or “according to Lidstrom”?

And yes, it could just be my imagination.

Or not.

23 Sept

Mike Babcock just told me forward Valtteri Filppula won’t be ready…

22 Sept

I just spoke to Mike Babcock, and he told me…

17 Sept

I just got off the phone with Pat Morris, the agent for Darren McCarty…

2 Sept

I’ve just been at Joe Louis Arena…

Aren’t you glad I’m back?  I just blew the lid off attribution.  Live, local--yes--late breaking.  Only at A2Y.

I was thinking the same thing, when I read that post this morning. I’ve seen Kahn! use it somtimes too. It gets a little old, they were using that line last season too.
I was wondering what the Red Wings slogan will be this year, and whether we will be forced to mock it in a contest again this year?

Hey, give ‘em a break. They work harder than a cat trying to bury a turd on a marble floor.

I think the rest of the players need to make sure he’s always got a visor on. Sir Norris must be protected at all costs.

lol loved the marble floor comment. I agree that Sir nick should invest in protecting every inch of his Norris bod at all costs.

Nick needs a visor.  Period.  Also, why does MacLeod pick up stories like today’s article on two new signings for the Wings, and Dye/Kulfan/St. James/Khan continue recycling the same shit they all heard together at the last press gaggle?

I know, we’ve covered this ad nauseam.

Why are the last three posts so whiney? Is Guam a real crappy place or something?

Why it’s a beautiful place.  Like Cleveland, without the glitz...and the alcohol is “on me” as the Chief says.

(a) I’m not in Guam yet.
(2) The last three?  Is that all you’ve read?  I mean, if that’s the case, cool and good for you and all that.  But c’mon...it’s like the last three hundred.  I’m a Detroit Red Wing fan Tyler.  I complained after we’d won our fourth Cup in eleven years because they didn’t do it at home.  It’s, as some have said here, how I roll.

Is transitioning to wearing a visor completely seamless?  I’m worried it’ll throw him off somehow.

Helene St. James just reported that after speaking directly with Dan Cloutier in person on one of the executive golf courses at The Villages in Florida, that indeed “No chance it will affect him whatsoever.”

Greatness finds a way to succeed...always.

I hear ya, Bill, but, just askin, would you like it to be you that can say what Digette St. James always says? Kinda sounds like it. Me, personally, I wish I could say that I just talked to Hank Zetterberg’s wife....

No. Depending on how you stick handle, the bottom edge of the visor can hinder your vision of the puck. Luckily, Nick hardly ever looks down. Reference Cloutier above.

Ah yes.  With every slam of the Diggers, comes the realistic possibility that I’ll be viewed as a mainstream wannabe with that all-important “access”.

To answer your question CC, nope.  I kinda dig my day job.

Draper said it took him about two weeks to adjust to the visor.  Nick is less easily distracted, so any adjustment will be quicker.

He damn well better keep that thing on.

Guam is infested with snakes and spiders.

The primary culprit is the brown treesnake, Boiga irregularis, and the effects of its introduction cascading through the ecosystem.  As a result of the enormous number of birds eaten by the snakes, I read a report a few years ago that documented spiders (which are normally solitary) forming communal webs since their populations were so high.  The huge concern now is the infernal reptiles spreading to other islands via air transport.  Some studies have even documented snake activity patterns by power outages, because when they were more active they would take out power lines from the weight of the snakes crawling along them.  Fascinating ecology on islands.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

--Mile High Hockey

"I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…"
