About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

“Hell, I guarantee the content co-opters at Abel to Yzerman were about to link this article under the heading “Bitter Blues Fans” again right up until they just read that last half-sentance. Thanks but no thanks, you Kukla hangers-on.”
--St. Louis Game Time

“I realize it’s the slow summer season, but can this guy tone down the tough-guy histrionics? His posts are fatiguing on an otherwise excellent site.”
--A2Y Fan, Eternal_Fields

“I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season.”
--Mile High Hockey

“I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…”
--In The Cheap Seats

“It’s just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don’t deserve their team.”
--Thhom

“I really don’t care what fans or bloggers think.”
--Drew Sharp

“Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players?  I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better.”
--A2Y Fan, Jeff Beaumont

It would look like Mark Hartigan’s got himself a cozy new home.

As posted at LGW, Latvia appears to be the destination.

Rough translation? “Mark Hartigan, a punk ass forward who lucked his way into a Stanley Cup, will be playing in Latvia.” I may be a little off. Not sure.

Marku Hartiganu?  It sounds like Jarkko Ruttu might have a new comic book villain.

noooooooooooo!

just kidding.

though it is exciting to get wings’ news.

You are so wrong about Hartigan “lucking” his way to a Stanley Cup…

He lucked his way to two of them, back to back no less!

Chief- bonus points for use of the words “Latvia” and “cozy” in the same post…

So which team brings him back for the stretch run to see if his Stanley Cup streak holds for another year?  smile

Jeebus Chief, where’d all this posting come from? Don’t hurt your wrist now.

How big is Latvia? He’s got a good chance to be a top line forward now.

Posted by Nate A from metro Detroit  on  07/22  at  02:29 PM

Y’know, I was just about to say he’d lucked into two Cups.  Thankfully, his name is on NEITHER.

I’m going to take a wild guess and say Hartigan signed the contract for big money and has never been to Riga.  If he had, then the phrase “Not for all the gold in Fort Knox” comes to mind.  If he isn’t on the first flight back, then you can be sure he’s knocking back the Black Balsam big-time.  And with the way he plays sober, you won’t notice a difference anyway.

Latvia isn’t very big, but there have been some decent players coming from there.  Don’t count on Hartigan being on Dynamo Riga’s top line.

Mark Hartigan and Duvie Westcott?!? Rigas Dinamo has put the rest of the Latvian League on notice.

LOL. The Wings should play these guys in an exhibition, it’d be like the Superseries all over again.

Or at least cracking the line up for more than a few games in a row.

you guys are all just fat asses sitting on the couch eating chips and know nothing about hockey

Well, i am Latvian and today i saw Rīgas Dynamo friendly game against KHL club ‘’Amur’’ and although Mark Hartigan didn’t do anything special and didn’t had any BIG moments, i have good first impression about him.

I am not sure what lineup will he be in after training camp, but i am pretty sure he is good enough to be in one of starting lineups…

By the way we won ‘’Amur’’ 3:2 smile
