Pretty sure every one of you has H1N1, which is why I’ve kept my distance today. Oh, I was tempted. The discussion that just wouldn’t end about points and won/losses and hookers…a thriller.
Thank god it’s almost game time on Little Gary’s Closed Circuit TV Station.
It’s Gary’s world. If one accurate thing was uttered today that was it. The little troll’s got us by the nads.
So we might as well Live Blog this bitch.

Thought, just for kicks, I’d post the Hot/Not for tonights SJS-BJ’s tilt:
Patrick Marleau (C/LW) 14 pts in last 7 GP
Ryane Clowe (RW/LW) 4 pts in last 2 GP
Joe Thornton (C) 19 pts in last 14 GP
Dany Heatley (LW) 17 pts in last 14 GP
Evgeni Nabokov (G) 3-0-0, 0.97, .962 in last 3 GPI
Thomas Greiss (G) 1-1-0, 1.38, .957 in last 2 GPI
Good Grief. I’m certainly not complaining about the Shark playing B2B.
It is sure to be a big-time eye-opener Thursday, and likely going to answer many questions about the Wings.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Did I miss something? Lilja is practising?
I knew that Lils was skating after team practices, but when did he start practising with the team?

I hadn’t heard this either….does that mean he doesn’t get headaches anymore, because i thought that was the only thing keeping him from practicing…..And can someone tell me ( i know it doesn’t matter with Mule’s departure) how much Lilja’s cap hit is once he comes off LTIR?

“Mecha-Lilja”? The biggest meanest dumbest Swedish turnover and shot blocking machine ever. Want.

Whoops, sorry.
And can someone tell me ( i know it doesn’t matter with Mule’s departure) how much Lilja’s cap hit is once he comes off LTIR?
Lils makes 1.25, so if he played a full season that would be the hit.
For every game he misses, that drops $15,243. If he comes back tomorrow (he wont) his hit would be about 1.05m.
...I think. This is all very confusing.
Thanks, Gary. Ass.

@ CaptNorris…thanks for the info…i think the person most anticipating his return is McCrimmon. Lil’s return to the PK could just keep Bmac his job.
p.s. i think i’m the antithesis of a gamewrecker….Here are the games i’ve been to in the last 2 seasons
Pens @ Wings 6-7 loss
Wings@ Pens 3-0 Win
finals game 1 vs. Pens Win
finals game 2 vs. Pens Win
finals game 5 vs. Pens Win
preseason game this year vs. Pens Win
last night’s game vs. Bruins Win
6/7 and 6 straight…..sorry i didn’t go to game 7, my bad.

To Messrs. Ilitch and Holland:
Please fire Brad McCrimmon. Immediately. 16% of the season is in the books. The Red Wings PK is ranked 28th. Only Anaheim and the Maple Leafs have PKs that are worse. This season’s PK is even worse than last season’s PK. When Scotty Bowman, followed by Todd McLellan, ran the PK, it was always in the top 10. Mr. McLellan’s Sharks have the 6th best PK in the league.
Fire Brad McCrimmon.

LMAO. According to some Red Wings fans (some idiot on Page 10 and other idiots in the past), being a captain means you should have your own home! As if Crosby basically doesn’t live by himself in Mario’s mansion. Yeah, he’s so stupid, he’s living with a hockey God in his mansion! What an incredible lack of leadership!
The fact of the matter is last night’s save by Crosby shows he plays both ends of the ice. As if people like Mike Richards and Henrik Zetterberg don’t know all about that. But this time he even bailed out Fleury. It’s hardly surprising if you watch the Pens with any regularity though.
And this blog constantly talking about Crosby is no sign of jealousy? LOL. Good one! Yes, the Penguins winning the Cup with Crosby leading by example by scoring 15 playoff goals and the Pens having 7 playoff series wins in 2 years has NOTHING to do with Crosby’s leadership and effort! I mean, putting up 58 points in the playoffs in 2 years is no sign of leadership I ever heard of. Sure. Because leadership is only displayed by speaking up in the locker room, and surely Red Wings fans know exactly what goes on there too, and Crosby’s no captain because he’s known as more of a quiet guy in the locker room who NEVER speaks up. And Wings fans have proof of this as well, of course!
Keep talking about Crosby. The fact of the matter is, it’s amusing as hell. It’s flattering that a fanbase who recently enjoyed winning 4 Cups in 11 years can’t go more than a couple days without having a big circle jerk about the best young leader in the NHL today. The Joke - keep referencing him in almost every post, and keep showing your jealousy by coming up with amusing names like Rosby. Anytime he screws up, make sure to point it out, because everyone knows that the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Steve Yzerman, and Mark Messier never made a mistake out there, never complained to the refs when they got the short end of the stick, never took a bad penalty or picked a bad time to fight, etc. etc.
You’re reaching the level of jealousy that Flyers and Caps fans have reached the past few seasons. Congratulations! It just makes for better and better posts at the Pensblog where we all chuckle and get nourished by the envy, the hatred and the bitterness.

We hardly ever talk about Toews, I don’t know what you’re getting at.
Alternate quip:
So it’s agreed. We’ll keep talking about Crosby’s leadership, and you’ll keep calling Kris Draper a homo. Deal.

Anyway, just noticed Dupuis’ right hand in that picture…haha it looks like the caretaker’s hand in Scary Movie, or one of those photoshops gone wrong.

Is there a term for people who obsess about other people obsessing about something?
LGP, Crosby appreciates you being his white knight, but you’re beating your head against a wall. I’m probably the biggest Crosby fan of the 19 and I still don’t like the fucher. Your logic and admonishments aren’t going to do anything for us.
Also, don’t bring his total playoff stats into a Red Wings board, you big goofball. He had three points and was a minus-3 against the Wings when they actually won the cup. Malkin, Talbot, and Fleury were all better leaders of your team for that series than Crosby.

This is my all-time favorite. We’re “jealous” of Sidney Crosby.
Have you ever noticed how 95% of the time that the word “jealous” is used, the accuser is defending something that everybody else thinks is unsightly and embarrassing?
“Hey man, check out this girl I hooked up with last night.”
“Dude, she looks like a guy.”
“What? What are you talking about? That’s a hot chick.”
“No, dude, that’s really a guy. I think I can see moose knuckle.”
“Whatever, you’re just jealous.”

Capt. “D”: With the Wings 4-4 on the PK last night they actually improved their season percentage to a mind-boggling 74.5 PK%, good for 25th.
Of course it always helps when your opponent on the PP manage only 2 meager SOG.
But I am glad to know that both you and Kate are joining my chorus:
Fire Brad McCrimmon, now, please.

I’ve been in the chorus of fire McCrimmon for about a year. I got my stats from espn’s NHL standings page; allegedly they are updated as games are finished. The one thing I like about espn’s standings is that they are flexible (div, conf. or league) and sortable by several categories including PP and PK.

Danny Heatly is leading on the ice by example too, with 17 points in 15 games. Hell, he lead his team from 05-07. He must be named team Captain! Yet I don’t want him taking anyone I know home from practice.
Take your Rosby praise to different blog.

I still haven’t seen it, thank god. Thankfully the troll from Pittsburgh rambled and rambled and rambled about a bunch of crap that still has absolutely nothing to do with actually being a leader, so while I was slowly scrolling down reading his bullshit and his convenient absence of Cindy’s stats (or lack thereof) specifically vs. the Wings, I just barely started to see the top of the picture and obviously knew what it was. I then proceeded to close my eyes, quickly scrolled down to the very bottom of the page, then slowly scrolled up until the bottom of his post with his name were visible, and then continued reading the other posts. Voila, still moment-less for me. I’ve been absolutely neurotic about not seeing that and so far I’ve been successful.

Bill, you didn’t buy the MLB extra innings this summer? that might be your answer. Since I bought Center Ice last year, they never cut off the channels and I got the baseball games all season long. In years past, they had figured it out about the mid-May time frame and cut the channels off then. Somebody must have fallen asleep at the wheel.
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 11/04/09 at 07:21 PM ET
No J.J. I didn’t buy the baseball after it went off the boards on its own sometime in June or July. Usually I subscribe by now to Center Ice but was just curious how long it would stay on on its own.
That’s okay, I’ve got 2 or 3 episodes of “The Mentalist” to catch up on between games.

If the NHL wants to get serious about limiting shots to the head, expect to hear about some discipline coming Robyn Regehr’s way for a high hit on Stephane Robidas.

All of this McCrimmon talk made me want to review what people were saying about him at the time of hire. There were a ton of people who applauded the move, because he was well liked by the players in Atlanta and was touted as future head coach material. The most interesting thing I’ve found so far was in this post:
You had the typical “whatever the Wings think is best” comments, which I was probably also making elsewhere. Plus we had just won a Cup and an assistant coaching move probably wasn’t all that scrutinized. But then commenter Alan from Atlanta, had this to say:
The consensus among many people who’ve watched the Thrashers is that he, well, wasn’t all that good of a coach. He’s a defense first kind of guy, and ... you all did see how bad Atlanta’s defense was last year, right? It wasn’t all that great the year before, either…..I’m happy to see him somewhere, but I’m not happy to see him signed with the Wings. To me, this signing makes the Wings weaker.
Who would’ve thought that 15-16 months later we’d be talking about an angry mob wanting to fire an assistant coach.
And I hate the Yankees.
