The Night Tick Tock Started Wondering

I suppose most of us feel Marian Hossa left an impression on the organ-I-zation during the Finals, and that the Wings were sold on him based on that performance.
Me? Yeah. I guess.
But I’m thinking January 15th had something to do with it, too.

What companies carry Center Ice? I was thinking about getting it for next season,
I looked into it in Feb. for my broadband…
They black out local games..??
Be careful what you sign up for…
or at least grease your bunghole first.

GIVE FULL CREDIT TO HOSSA -
I think Tick-Tock is great and continues to be a key piece in this Red Wings organ-I-zation, no doubt.
But this monster train heist was hatched and executed by Hossa and apparently is something he has been thinking about for a long time.
Kenny, like all of us, had given up on the possibility of Hossa, what with all the mountains of cash other GMs were offering for long term. Tick-Tock says in fact, he was gassing up his car yesterday morning when he was shocked to get a call from Hossa’s agent Rich. Rich apparently was on the phone with Hossa. The conversation went like this:
Rich: Marian would like to play for the Wings, he’ll give up $9.5 and would accept the “High $7’s”.
TT: We can’t offer more than Lidstrom is making because after Nick won another Norris he took a pay cut from 7.6 to 7.4.
Rich: ...Done, no quibbling.
You’ve gotta give it up for 81, or whatever he becomes. Hossa has apparently been looking for an opportunity to play with the Wings for a long time and went to extraordinary measures and sacrifice to make it happen. Let’s wish him the best, welcome him to the Joe enthusiastically, and hope it pays off for him. Hossa made it happen.

Check your local cable company. DirecTV definitely has it, and if you ever read any John Buccigross you’ll know that’s probably the best company to get it from (they go out of their way and try to offer both feeds of every game). I tried it this past year through Cox and was not disappointed- I’m a Wings fan, my girlfriend likes the Flyers (don’t worry, I’m turning her around), we live in Virginia, and we never missed a game. Yes, they black out local games, but that’s because the local games are supposed to be on local tv. I’m thinking about switching to DirecTV this summer (they give you the NHL Network at no extra cost with Center Ice whereas Cox makes you pay extra for it with some weird sports pack, and sometimes there’s a game that’s only on the NHL Network) just so I can always or almost always get the Wings home feed.

Did anyone get the free beer from Kwame?
Does he even give free reach arounds?

Marian Hossa and Nick Lidstrom are everything that’s right with the current system, while Dustin Penner and Jeff Finger are everything that’s wrong with it.

I have had it on Comcast for 4 or 5 years and never regret it. I live in Virginia so the only games that are blacked out are the Caps who appear on the Comcast sports channel instead. Occasionally I’ll watch some of the other games but Center Ice lets me watch all the Wings games. I don’t think I’ve watched less than 75 Wings games in a season since I’ve had it, usually 80.

I’ve had Center Ice for years with Comcast. Only problem is that now with the NHL Network, those games are blacked out on Center Ice and I won’t pay the extra money (above what I’m already paying for Center Ice) to get the NHL Network. It cost me several Wings games this year and I was not happy.

Funny. He has the same expression on his face that he does now when he’s coaching!

I’ve had DirecTV Center Ice for years and haven’t seen less than 60 games each of the last 4 seasons. It saves you so much money.
I have no idea how much money i gave to Cyril at Kezar Pub over the years, though he treats the Wings fans really well. Hippy Dave & Puck may have spent even more.

MacGyver was a pretty influential character for the time. Who wouldn’t try to grow his haircut?

MacGruder! Or is that George Michael?

“MacGruder.” You mean, “MacGuyver?”
Not to rain on the Hossa parade but the Wings didn’t exactly lose no one; we don’t have Coach Todd McLellan and all he did was run the PP. We still don’t have a replacement for him.
