I am so proud of my former home to boo that scumbag Kwami.  He makes me cringe when having to explain him to outsiders.  God bless the Red Wings for restoring my pride in my beloved city where I was born.

They introduced everyone on stage, but Drake didn’t choose to speak.

Great rally at the Plaza. I wish I could’ve gone, but streaming it from work wasn’t too bad! God love the interwebs.

Definitely the best parade/celebration of the four recent Cups. As great as those other teams were, I get the feeling that this group might be the closest group of them all. They really seem like they’re enjoying their time, not just with the fans, but together, with each other and the coaches and management.

And that all starts at the top. The Ilitches have created a family environment and it really appears as if all these guys are great pals, good people, and that makes it that much more awesome to witness this.

They way the players spoke at the rally was fantastic, and as a fan that watched 103 freakin’ games (thanks, Comcast, for keeping me from watching all 104), you really find yourself embarassingly tied up and emotionally invested in the team. Obviously it’s nothing like what they are feeling, but like I said, after investing all that time into fandom, it feels amazing to see this. I’ll never know any of those guys personally, but even so, I just can’t help but feel great for them and feel thankful for them working hard to give us some entertainment that helps take us away from our daily grinds and frustrations.

It’d be interesting to hear what some of the beat writers have to say about that. The Highlander wrote something to that effect earlier in the year on his blog.

No doubt. She’s so full of botulism that Saddam Hussein would be jealous from the grave.

Just got back from the parade. We were on the corner of 75 and Woodward, right where the parade began. Got some pretty good pictures… and some pretty bad ones. I was behind a big crowd, so I had to take all of them with the camera well above my head… However, a few of them turned out great.

Fantastic one of Babcock, good ones of Downey, some great ones of Zetterberg, a great one of Lids/The Cup, a couple good ones of Homer, a nice one of Ericsson/Home Keys… the side of Yzerman’s head…

I missed some of the players, though, because the shot just didn’t come out.

Once I get them onto the computer (I’m on vacation, so it’s not my computer!), I’ll email them to anybody who wants to see them.

My favorite part of the on-stage festivities was Nick saying, “Some of the players asked me to come up and translate what Homer just said.” Nice!

And Happy was, well, maybe a little too happy. He looked like a 5’7” Arnold Schwarzenegger with a mini-goatee. As Ken Daniels said, he’s come a long way since the beginning of the season. I think next season may be a true break-out season for him.

Anyway, now we just have to wait three weeks for the draft and free agency fun to start. grin

Yep. My fiance never really understood why I felt this way about the Wings. In fact, she was pretty annoyed whenever I’d turn into a social retard for a few hours (days) after they lost.

But after she saw how happy I was when that clock hit, in Z’s words, “zero-zero-zero”, I think she appreciated the passion, even if she didn’t get it.

We should make him a fancy Red Wings Pope hat out of paper mache.

I heard that Draper’s vehicle was rear ended by Maltby’s.  More realism added to the parade.
