Anyone else caught the S.H.M.B. next to DC?
Any ideas to what it means? It was there last game but disappeared after the first…

Hasek’s saving us. Filpulla should bave two goals! Ugh. Nashville’s quick to loose pucks and it’s frustratin HOMER!!!!!!!!!!HOLMSTROM!!!!!!! God Datsyuk’s good. Damn. Top line asserting itself after two shaky periods. Z and Dats are SO good. I say remove Hudler and replace him with Home Keyz.

That one makes up a little for the numerous empty nets missed by Flip, Mule, etc…

Chief - when you catch up with this we need to figure out what the hell the S.H.M.B. is that the wings are putting on the red guards between ‘the pipes’ where Douche Canoe stokes himself….

Series MVP: Arnott, 1 shot on goal, -7 rating.

I gotta say, from a neutral perspective, Doc and Edzo were fine today. The other two, meh…

The CMOI is in as good of form as we’ve seen him in the last two years.
We also haven’t seen the breaks go the Wings way this much in the last two years.
Hopefully these are good omens.
Even so, this game was still the ultimate stress train game, even though at the end of it it was pretty lopsided in Detroit’s favor.

Best line of the night comes from Doc’s broadcast partner at the end of the game: “It all came down to Dom being in control at the end there.”
In control? Are you freaking kidding me. That crazy mutherf#!ker spent the last thirty seconds without a stick, flopping around on his back like a crab trying to somehow get back in the water. There’s no doubt that he’s at his best when he’s completely out of control.
As for the game, we all knew Dom would give up at least one “goofy” goal in the series. But who would have guessed the building would give up a goofy goal. Crazy stuff!
And what about Homer? I knew he’d come back with renewed energy after his forced layoff, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him play like such a beast as he has in the first two games. The Flying Circus is virtually unstoppable now.
Man, I’ve so wound up right now I may have to either get off the train and run alongside for a few miles or open another bottle of wine to calm down.
Hmmm. Porter!

nice win. very nice win. if not for the lucky bounce off the glass for Nashville it’s a 4-1 win. Hasek solid in net, Wings outshoot them badly, defense is solid, very physical play. game 1 looked like the regular season up a notch, today looked like a playoff game. win one in Nashville, series done in 5.

That’s fair, but at NBC it’s not their job to be versed in Wings hockey.
it’s their job to be versed in hockey, which includes Wings AND Predators for today. obviously they are only versed in Predators hockey. you seriously don’t see what’s wrong with that?

We had a little issue with comments after #200 not showing up. Now fixed so continue on….

Talk about snakebitten—Filppula had at least three goals gift-wrapped and handed to him and missed every one. He still has that annoying habit of trying to stickhandle through people instead of just taking the puck wide and letting everyone else set up.
Franzen missed a couple of gimmes too. I still can’t believe how much he improved this year. He’s become much faster and a better puckhandler.
There are some people here who owe Samuelsson an apology. He was superb today, especially in the first two periods.
Remarkable game by Draper, too. If he had any skill left in him, he probably would have had another goal or two.
There were a few good shot blocks in that game, too. That’s something I’ve always wanted to see more of from the Wings. (Although having seen two potentially disastrous injuries already these playoffs from shot blocks, I’m not too disappointed when someone like Datsyuk doesn’t go down for a point shot in the second period.)
After only two games and six goals (excluding the empty netter), 14 out of 20 Red Wings have a point. The forwards without a point are Cleary, Samuelsson, and Filppula are the forwards; Stuart, Lilja, and Chelios the defencement. What happened to our lack of secondary scoring? It’s not because the top line isn’t producing, either—they scored half of those six goals.
It pains me to say, but once again Tootoo was the best Predator player. Unlike last game, he was even better than Ellis this time around. There’s just no way Nashville can win unless that changes. Arnott and Dumont have been invisible.
Posted by Ryan from Toronto on 04/12/08 at 04:42 PM ET
Replace Hudler with Abdlekader! And I apologize to Samuelsson. He’s playing well. Hasek, Defense, all look good but Lilja. Forwards look good, except Hudler.
Posted by TDeters from Washington, DC on 04/12/08 at 04:47 PM ET
Oh, also worth pointing out that the hits ended up 26-25 for Nashville, but the Wings had a slight edge most of the game. Interesting fact: the only two Red Wings not credited with a hit were the Dynamic Duo, Lidstrom and Rafalski. The Predators had seven players not credited with a hit. If it was ever Nashville’s game plan to hit the Wings into submission, they flew off the rails somewhere.

Ok, I’m getting tired of all the whining in the stress train. The turd-fondling Douche Canoe deserves everything he’s getting, Millbury has somehow managed to bother me even more. However, I don’t think Doc is getting a fair shake in here. I know, I know - 3 straight days of frenetic nerve-fueled binge drinking didn’t exactly set us up for logical analysis. Right. That said, let’s not become DC’s ourselves; Doc’s as solid as they come and his call of McCarty’s goal was as genuine as could be without being biased. Blast away at the Douche Canoe, Millbury and Ol’upchuck - but Doc hasn’t earned any of that.
Bottom line: who gives a rodent’s rump about commentators, predators or anybody not wearing the winged wheel.
Good enough game today; the W is all that matters. But frightfully sloppy. Hopefully they’re just getting rolling and the kinks will work themselves out.

As I said earlier…NBC stands for ” Not Bright Commentary,” at least in hockey! I mean really, you had no choice to give the Wings credit at the end of the game because they WON! The whole game was about Buba….well, eat it! A child could have broadcasted the game better than Douche Bag and MulBerry Bush (A Bruin who is suppose to know a Bruin and is down right negative!)
Thanks McCarty…love you in the right place at the right time…keep it up!

Ok, I’m getting tired of all the whining in the stress train).
Not whinning, just letting off the steam….it gets hot in here, besides it was the way I heard it…me biased? Maybe, on secong thought, NO.
Posted by dwingsrock on 04/12/08 at 06:26 PM ET
Yeah I think Doc is still the best and no one has his descriptive vocabulary. The other turds are toting the NHL line of pimping for Nashville.
Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 04/12/08 at 06:52 PM ET
Okay IWO, you’ve had time to watch the game unless you’ve been stopping to count how many times NBC was performing on the Predators. Talk about Oral Fixation.

RWBill, just finished watching. Definitely noticed the NBC bias. Surprising? No. Pathetic? Absolutely.
Full recap tomorrow morning.

I think this is more due to the fact that, outside of 7 hicks from Nashville and The Forechecker, no one’s seen the Preds play this year. Or last year. They have to introduce this team to America in case they *shudders* get past a round for once in their lives.
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 04/12/08 at 09:13 PM ET
am i the only one that thinks the Wings played a pretty solid game? another fluke goal and a shitty giveaway (by the King of them). besides that, we matched the Preds hit for hit and Dom was pretty damn solid. did people think this was going to be a cakewalk? remember that the West is a far different game than the East. it’s hit, dump, hit, hit, dump, bounce, penalty, goal. it will be good practice for the coming competition.
also, anyone notice all the goal-scorers were part of the Cup teams? good, good feelings.

Improvements from William Tell noted, but his actual name will not resume until #11. It’s called tough love, people. Talk to Uncle Mike or Scotty about it.
Secondary scoring, including D-Mac, more than noted. Celebrated. But here I’m sitting in the boondocks without access to it. I’d love to curse Gary on this, but it…isn’t…his…fault. Ugh, I feel so dirty writing that. Just sorry I missed it.
One PPG for about ten or fifteen tries. That needs to improve. It’ll cut it against Bubba, but not against second-round opponents. I may be unfair, given that Nashville have a great PK, but Dallas, who may very well be our second-round opponent (took BOTH games in Quacktown?) have an even better-looking one.
More lucky breaks, but at least from the sounds of the comments here, Bubba got some bad calls going their way as well. That they failed to capitalize on them is nobody’s fault but their own.
Cheli with #248, Patty Wah’s all-time record is dust. D-Mac with a goal. Sweeter than muscat wine, boys. Sweet as they come.
