I Am A Canuck

Yesterday I had the surreal experience—along with the rest of The Crazy Canucks podcasters: Rebecca, John, J.J. and DaveO, plus Richard Loat who created the very successful Canucks Facebook application—of participating in a photoshoot for the Vancouver Canucks “I Am A Canuck” advertising campaign.
Here are a couple behind-the-scenes pics I stole from Rebecca’s iPhone:

Thanks to Rebecca for the pics. A couple more behind-the-scenes photos can be found at her Miss 604 site.
There’s more to tell but I’ll save it for another day, plus publish all the photos and (*gulp*) video when it becomes available. Meanwhile, I just wanted to say a public thank you to the very gracious creative team at GM Place for giving us such a unique experience.
Having Jeff Vinnick take one’s photo is quite an honor—plus I figure he’s actually talented enough to make even me look good

You bet your sweet *** Alanah is a Canucks’ fan!
This patch of Kuklaskorner is called “Canucks and Beyond"…
Wow, the Crazy Canucks are becoming celebrities!
Pretty soon they will replace “Hotstove” on HNIC…

For the record I was kidding. I have a knack for knowing what to say to Alanah to get under her skin. It’s a talent really.

What I don’t understand is why anyone would agree to be in a campaign titled “I am a Schmuck.”
It just doesn’t make much sense...unless:
- These people have extremely low self-esteem
- It’s actually a campaign for Schmucker’s jelly (kinda like the old “I’m a Pepper” campaign for Dr. Pepper)
Moreover—though I can’t speak for the others involved—it’s certainly not a description that fits Alanah, regardless of her unfortunate choice of NHL team to support.

Man, there’s a reason why Scotty Bowman left Detroit for Chicago. Such mean folks out there.

Despite all the jokes from us Wings fans, I gotta admit that it’s pretty cool the organization invited all of you bloggers to participate in an ad campaign like that. Just another example of an NHL team really reaching out to its bloggers. Congrats on a cool opportunity!

I concur with the observations about the campaign - it is definitely cool to invite the bloggers to participate. I wouldn’t mind seeing other teams follow suit.
(And we tease because we care.)

Mike - Bah. Don’t say such things!
Alan - That photo… God, I’ll never live it down. Don’t you people ever forget anything??
w2j2 - It’ll be renamed “HotCanuck”
YzermanZetterberg - It’s really disturbing, that “Canuck” and “schmuck” rhyme so well. I wish you hadn’t pointed that out to me.
John - Don’t I know it!
Christy - Thanks! It was very cool.
Baroque - All the teasing I take, y’all must care very, very much…
