The endless quests to be the first lunatic to “break” the story that Trevor Linden will be signing with the New York Islanders (or whereverthehell I heard earlier) at any moment, can finally be stopped. Captain Canuck will stay a Canuck (sans “Captain” of course) for another season. From Canucks.com (via Kukla’s):
“Call off the investigations and put away your detective hats. After almost four months of questions and predictions, Trevor Linden re-signs and will return in a Canucks uniform for the 2007-08 season. Linden’s excited to re-join his team of 15 years (going into his 16th) and is positive about the changes made over the summer.”
No idea what he was signed for myself, though TSN should have it available soon. ($700,000 is my guess…)
(Update:...and apparently I would be wrong. Linden’s contract is for another $600K season, but with the stipulation, that the “deal also includes an additional $350,000 in bonuses for games played.” Not quite sure I know what that means…)
Now, onto the new uniforms, plus the elusive scoring plans for this coming season. It would be nice to clear up all the team mysteries soon.

JB— Weirdly, I was actually pondering a “will they also be revealing who shot JFK?” joke yesterday, myself. But I suppose it’s obvious why they’ve been so mysterious… it keeps all of us talking about it endlessly, and generally driving us nuts.
Expat— You have such high hopes, but you have to give the Canucks time! Listen, it took two months to sign Linden, and yet another week to introduce the team’s new logo. I figure they’re exhausted from all this “public communication” and may need to take a breather before revealing any more state secrets.

The Province had a write-up about the new Canucks duds yesterday. I have it linked on my blog, as well as going over the highlights.
Slightly disappointed with what was discussed, but time will tell how they look. August 29th is the big date for the Canucks… anyone going? I’ll cross-post your article on my blog if you’re interested.
