Losing a Bet. Paying Up. Yet Again.

imageIt’s almost like a sign of the seasons, the regularity with which I make—and lose—stupid hockey bets. In this latest episode, witness this March email exchange between myself and “Sailor Boy” IwoCPO of Abel to Yzerman...

IwoCPO: So, playoffs coming up. What are we betting?
Alanah: I don’t bet anymore.
IwoCPO: Sure you do. Let’s bet points, first round. I pick Pavel Dattysucky Datsyuk
Alanah: I pick Daniel Sedin.
IwoCPO: Loser wears an Avalanche jersey and posts a photo.
Alanah: I’m not that drunk.
IwoCPO: Loser wears the winner’s jersey
Alanah: Whatever.
IwoCPO: Fine.
Alanah: Sucker.

So yeah, I lost. God, how I hate Detroit fans.

And by the way, anyone that copies this photo and reposts it anywhere, dies. That includes you, Sailor Boy.

Note: A big “thank you” to Eddy’s Hockey Shop here on Vancouver Island, who took pity on me, allowing me to borrow this horrible jersey.  I’m exchanging it for a vintage Roberto Luongo one next week.

Well, I’ll at least link to that image! haha

Your pride has been destroyed. Now all you can hope for is a Detroit loss to the Sharks and then RUB IT THE HELL IN!!!

Yes, my pride is in rough shape. And while normally I wouldn’t care who won that series - Detroit or San Jose - you are correct. I now hope Detroit goes up in smoke.

Go Thornton!

You know what would be a good follow-up? Photos of that jersey burning.

Sadly, no burning ceremony. I’ve packed it nicely away to be returned to the store in exchange for my Luongo jersey.

This is bad enough as it is, Greg. If I actually had to PAY for this stupid thing, I wouldn’t be able to look myself in the mirror again.

That thing is freaking saved to my hard drive.  And I’m backing that one up.
