Kick Off Your Boots

imageAs everyone knows by now, Nashville Predators’ minority owner William ‘’Boots’’ Del Biaggio filed for bankruptcy this past week.

No doubt a frustrating time for Predators fans who are probably at their limit when it comes to the roller-coaster ride of supporting their team.  And plenty frustrating for the rest of us who just know—beyond any shadow of a doubt—that when you owe $57 million to a bunch of banks etc., you’re going to be getting off a lot easier than if you were simply $200 overdue to the electric company. (After all, the electric company just cuts off your power; but creditors missing $57 million? That’s gotta hurt a bit. I figure that it won’t take long before they’re inviting you over for drinks while begging on hands and knees for you to throw a few crumbs back at ‘em...)

Anyway, despite the seemingly-endless controversy of this mess, my own hope is that we shall never have to read, type, hear or think about “Boots” ever again. And David Freeman, chairman of the Predators’ ownership group, obviously feels the same way

Who Will Be the Last Men Standing?

Down to the wire with two games left, Nashville and Vancouver are duking it out for the #8 spot in the only playoff-like contest one of these teams is going to experience this spring.  Which makes every game into ‘must see’ hockey.

Perfect timing then, to lose my cable & internet connection for 4 freakin’ days.  Thus: no hockey games, no hockey news, no hockey emails, no hockey video highlights…

No hockey at all. Nada.

It was the best 96 hours of my life.

Jacking Tacos

Sometimes, Nashville makes it too easy to give them a hard time. (Not to suggest anyone should stop—really, it’s sort of fun.) But tonight’s Canucks/Predators game has serious undertones when you look at the standings, and despite how well Vancouver has been playing suddenly, Nashville isn’t a team to look past.

But—despite my initial intention to dwell on these worrisome, stressful aspects of the evening—I somehow got distracted by tacos. Yeah. Tacos.  Specifically, 9,000 or so Nashville fans chanting, “We want ta-cos! We want ta-cos!’’ the other night.

Hard to understand how anyone makes fun of Nashville under the circumstances, isn’t it? Oh, and full points to Melt Your Face Off who concluded: “Hockey + Tacos = Hackos?” (Yum...)

Country Music is ALWAYS a Bad Idea

imageIn the Tennessean,

Nashville Predator Jordin Tootoo may have just learned an important country music lesson: Never cheat on a woman with a microphone and an audience.

The Predators wild man had been dating singer Kellie Pickler since early this year, but apparently that’s on the rocks. “Jordin knows what he did,” she said Monday. Apparently her fans do, too.

While performing in Michigan on Sept. 22, concertgoers say, Kellie told the crowd that Jordin cheated on her, so her theme song now is Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats.”

While she joked that she hoped his teeth were knocked out during that night’s game, her attempt to laugh through her pain didn’t last long: She cried onstage while singing “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You.”

Tootoo couldn’t be reached for comment… but Alanah could be: “Country Music ALWAYS Sucks.”

End of story.
