Steve Simmons knows Detroit hockey almost as well as Andy Strickland or Mitch Albom.

First the Detroit Red Wings tried to get Owen Nolan. Then they traded for Todd Bertuzzi. Apparently, their goal is to determine how quickly they can poison their environment.

Yeah, because the Wings have a long history of disgruntled players in the room. Of all the concerns out there regarding Bertuzzi, disharmony is the least of them.

As for Nolan? I suppose because the Leafs had issues with him, and vice versa, that means every other team would too? That, my friends, is a stretch.

The day after the deadline we saw the predictable column of outrage from the Delicate Genius, Mitch Albom. It was precisely the formula he’s followed the last five years: ignore the Wings until an event occurs that makes it impossible not to write something, anything; then scribble out a few paragraphs with no original thought, and certainly nothing that would require a trip to the Joe.
