Hey, guess who was batting leadoff in the blogger segment on HNIC?

You so look just like a CPO in the Navy.  smile

You’re one up on me Baroque. I have to wait until AlanaH sends me the story after she records it on her PC.

It was a very well-balanced piece, I thought.  They did a good job of summarizing the concerns of those who worry about accountability but also how many people spend more time on-line than watching tv, and how that is more true of the younger demographic.

After the produced piece, McLean in the studio fired up his laptop and pointed out a few blogs (mentioning that you could start with any search engine,) starting with Tom Benjamin (since, as he said, they are kindred spirits regarding officiating) and clicking on a few links from the blogroll.  James Mirtle (who has an open thread on HNIC as his first post), Tyler Dellow’s site, The Puck Stops Here, and wrapped up with Kukla’s Korner and a mention of Lyle Richardson (since the first post references Spector).

I think they did a good job of pointing out that the blogs can cover areas of the hockey universe that a reporter might not know much about, such as European leagues or college players, and how they include links for the sources of ideas not their own.

Eliotte Friedman said that he used the blogs to make sure he hadn’t missed something important, and that the fan perspective can be valuable to know because they might see something that a reporter had missed because they look at the game with fresh eyes and a different outlook.

Definitely worth a look when they get it online.

Oh yeah, saw you (or your stand-in) on HNIC.  Next time hire a stand-in that looks older than 14.

If it wasn’t a stand-in then you’ve been ‘outed’, Duke, and did your mom drive you to the rink.

Only Kidding

Don’t be mean.  smile

I think he looked very nice and professional.

Plus he looked honest enough to trust him with a gun (which is an important trait in the military.)

Thinking about that Dats video, I hope he spent Friday making sacrifices to the Hockey Gods, because those goal posts have been working against him.

I’m going to name my first child Pavel Pavel: one for Bure and another for Dats. Then I will send the child back in time to the CCCP hockey schools and become the person I always wanted to be. I may even chop one of their legs down by 3 inches to give them added stopping ability. And his name shall be…

....minnie me…

the only problem i have with the video is, dats is not a natural goal scorer. this video makes him out to be so. don’t get me wrong, he is a magician, but, heck, he will never score 50. or even 40.
oh well, same old-same old for the wings.
