Doesn’t make sense, does it? It will after you listen to the latest podcast over at The Obstructed View.
Not safe for work, or much else. George Malik goes frigging nuts and Jessie from Bingo, Bango and I are along for the ride. Topics include goaltending, injuries, Pinky and Herm.
Listen here. And while you’re at it, open up your wallets and let’s get Herm to Hockeytown. Current total sits at $1485.19. We’re going to keep piling up the dollars and whatever goes unspent will benefit the Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
Need some background on this thing? Read here, here and here.

Ah Chief, you and your sailor’s mouth…

Hey Chief, so I’m out today shopping at my local grocery store and I see a guy wearing a jacket saying “USS Iwo Jima” on the back. I wished him a Merry Christmas and thanked him for his service. I also asked him if he knew a certain Bill Houlihan. He said, “Sure, I know that p*%#k”. NO, no he didn’t really say that but he did say to say hi to you. He said his name was (if I heard it correctly) GM2 Shelton. I told him you might be coming out this way though and he said he thought you were close to retirement. Best wishes for the holidays to you and yours Chief.

It’s amazing how often that happens in the military. I was deployed to Turkey one time and ran into a guy I had a running fued with while playing baseball in high school from a rival team.
Three different times I’ve had the same guy from technical training show up at a base I was stationed at.
And it goes on and on

T-bone: can you translate the word “doidinhos”, please.
Sounds a little, um ... noteworthy.
(From the post you linked above, Google did not translate the word.)
[Google translation]
“This shows that we are not a bunch of doidinhos. We are fans of the Detroit Red Wings.”
Also, in the comments, there was this:
Rodrigo said ...
Man, I still go far. This blog show the ball will meet the guys on tour a bitch to watch at least one set of PO at Joe Louis Arena. Ahahahahah, I know it’s journey. But the dream is a dream. Already mentioned this to the Leadrão. Maybe in about two years. Huhauha. Excuse my excitement.
Sounds like Rodrigo kinda predicted a JLA trip 2-1/2 years ago?
He was close. And you are the traveler.
(And I made note of the Google translation of “ball” and “bitch” but not sure what the sentance was suppose to mean. A little help?)

So, Drew, Chief thinks we can be more, um ... appropriate if we are “not (to) boo him with every touch of the puck”, but does that mean we can at least still have a little hate with him wearing the ‘awks jersey?

Posted by stonehands-78 from the beginning ... a WingsFan, on 12/22/09 at 02:59 PM ET
Doidinhos: “doido” means crazy guy, the “-inho” stands for little, so “little crazy guys”.
Rodrigo comment: This kickass blog will get the guys together on a trip for a playoff game at Joe Louis Arena. I know I’m trippin’, but a dream is a dream. Maybe in two years.
He was amazingly close to it. So much for “trippin’”
-
Ball and bitch:
Ball is in the expression “show de bola”, a soccer slang that is in the brazilian culture. A “blog show de bola” is a “kickass blog”.
Bitch (puta, “whore”) is an “adjective” used to enhance the power of words, like “fauxing”. So, “uma puta excursão” is “a fauxing trip”.

Guilherme, that is correct. The hope is that since Terry Foster already knows about your blog, just maybe he’ll hear about this shindig and let the people of Detroit know.
So I have one question… who’s hooking up the trip to take Herm to the Flight Club before the game?

And Nathan, Landing Strip is the closest to the airport, but if this was eleven years ago, I could get you into the Deja Vu (and backstage) for free. Not any more now, unfortunately—it’s a high-turnover industry and I don’t know anyone these days.

Decided to check for prices for a flight and hotel for that weekend; looks like it might be possible. It would be my first game there, and when discussing it with the S.O. I did not get an immediate refusal. I’ll wait for the deadline for tickets, but if I go I will gladly split a room at the Hilton Garden Inn with someone. Would just need to figure out the best way from the airport to the hotel (would be taking an overnight flight that Thursday).

Hey Bill—thanks! Hanukkah finished on Saturday, but I’ll head up to Glasgow and have a deep-fried pizza from your namesake’s chip shop (Bill’s in Govanhill). The deep-frying makes it appropriate for the Festival of Oil…er, Lights.
I hear Ritola freshens your breath too.

Does anybody know what the best route to contacting Helene St James of the Free Press would be? I searched for an Email link and couldn’t find one on the site. I think our beat writers for the Wings need to know what miracle is happening on this site.
