A Rudderless Ship

Longtime poster from MLive, RWBill, has begun a thread over at the Godfather’s Message Board on the league’s unwillingness to address the number of shots to the head.
The NHL front office is surely the biggest collection of cowards in a professional league as this great Hockey Ship careens rudderless in stormy waters. We’re all on board watching in horror with no way to right the ship while Captain Bettman is locked in his quarters playing backgammon with no concern for the welfare of the crew. Concussions and injuries requiring hospitalization continue to pile up without so much as a peep from the NHL.
It’s a good read on a subject becoming more serious with every incident. Read the rest here.

I agree. With the crackdown on fighting, there seem to be more guys headhunting in an attempt to intimidate. In the old days they just would have dropped gloves with someone which I think is a safer way to go about things.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Thanks to you, RWBill. This message must be pounded over and over until Bettman gets it. It is absolutely criminal to allow these bright young men to be destroyed by hits to the head. Head injuries are not like other injuries. There is ALWAYS a small amount of permanent inury. We are seeing it week after week. And it goes way back to Eric Lindros and beyond. For heaven’s sake, even the owners must shudder to see their stars disabled, either temporarily or pemanently, by these hits. What does it take? Crosby?
