I’m going to do a series preview tomorrow, or maybe the next day, or maybe after Game 2. It’ll probably consist of some made up quotes, a few slams at NoCal, some whining about the playoffs being stressful, and a happy puppy reference or two. Oh, and Rocky. Definitely a Rocky mention. I’m thinking Rocky III. And I’ll be happy with that preview. Because that’s who I am…not statistically sound, just kind of tip tapping because it’s fun.
Well…I’ve found the anti-Iwo.
I just read a series preview that is the mother of all series previews. Peterboroughpete at Behind The Mask...outstanding stuff. I read through the whole thing twice looking for something to cut and paste here as a preview, but to do that would be an injustice. Read it here.

Rocky III is by far the most homo-erotic of all of them. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course.

You know, if I was just another hockey blogger wannabe looking to pimp my site, I’d probably make a comment that was at least somewhat related to hockey (unless my sole intent was to do nothing more than fish for traffic, then it wouldn’t matter what I posted, I guess).

Well, I guess when your team didn’t even make the playoffs, ya gotta do something to keep busy…

Perhaps you could keep Eeeen company, Dear NordAlanchly
He needs a hand… “Abusing the bike fender.”

O-Joe, I made a comment that was related to the actual post, which is more than what you did. But I apologize if I mistook the “comment” option to be open to anyone. My bad.
So much hatred.

So much hatred.
Awww, you’re above such, eh?
As Avalanche fans, it’s just not possible for us to root for the Detroit Red Wings. The rivalry may have died out a bit, but there’s just something about America’s Worst City™ and their hockey team that rubs us the wrong way. So, despite some misguided remarks in previous posts, we must once again reaffirm our complete distaste for the Dead Wings. We definitely don’t want them to advance to the second round of the playoffs.
...
If we had our way, neither Detroit nor Calgary would advance to the second round. Neither deserves it. Both are incapable of winning on the road and both play dirty. Instead, we’d advance both Dallas and Vancouver, who both have earned the right to keep playing. It will be sad to see either Marty Turco or Roberto Luongo go home early after Game 7 of their series—-both of them have proven themselves to be the epitome of class and determination. Calgary and Detroit couldn’t even come close.
Ummm… yeah.
Call Eeeeen, he’s eagerly awaiting your call.

Never said I was above anything. Gotta know hatred to see it, right?
But honestly, I’ve got nothing but love for you guys. And let’s not turn this comment thread into a discussion about me. Let’s keep it Wings-related, shall we?

Hey, I’m just trying to help.
Tough love.
You know, since the Nordilanche didn’t. even. make. the. playoffs.

Another hockey blogger with Red Wings Derangement Syndrome.
Feh..dime a dozen.
But it got him my one and only (ever) unique page hit.
Mission accomplished, sorta.

O-Joe, I appreciate your help—-anything I can do to boost the traffic count. Gotta think about the sponsors.

“Call Eeeeen, he’s eagerly awaiting your call.”
Dub, you’re slipping. Didn’t you mean he’s eeeegirly awaiting his call? It’s the second round, man, step it up!

Thanks Iwo, Behind the mask is the best I have read in about two months.

Oh yeah, I apologize for challenging on your Preds pick. You were correct, even if for all the wrong reasons.

Dub,
I am extremely impressed. I have to say, honestly, I worry about you just a little, but even so, that is good stuff. ![]()
Don’t take it to heart. I worry about myself too, especially this time of year.
Posted by Nathan on 04/25/07 at 12:15 PM ET
Oh no worries, Nathan - I worry myself (and those close to me) a lot. Especially during the playoffs…
Thanks, BTW.

Hey any time, unless you start rooting for the BJs instead of the Wings…
One thing I wanted to mention, hockey related
, is the injury talk.
There has been a lot made of Zetterberg obviously being sore (as he will be from now until next season). There has been a ton of talk about Homer, and a little concern about Lebda.
It would be fair to point out that Cheechoo is using a knee that has been deemed “60%”, and Bernier has been playing after taking that dirty hit from behind.
The point here is that injuries are not an excuse for anything. Every team is significantly knicked up this time a year, it just depends on how well they hide it, and whether or not the injury is one that can be played through. I have to believe that if Homer could see, he’d be playing tomorrow night.

Okay TD YOU OBVIOUSLY have too much time on your hands and not enough PBR in them. It is funny kinda in a quirky way I suppose. But Damnit I expect from a toledo boy!!!! Although I couldn’t have done it myself. My expectations for the joke are high.
Hows the WarHorse???

Hey Jeff -
Gramps is hangin’ tough, in a regular room and as comfortable as he can be. He knows he won’t be going home again, because my Grandma simply can’t take care of him. He’s going into some sort of… “facility” soon and he’s not happy about it, but understands.
Yeah, yeah… bush league Photoshop stuff but all in good fun. I’m sandwiching them between bouts with 3 papers I’m trying to complete.
And, yes, I could use a couple PBR’s.

Nathan -
Certainly no excuses on the injury front, every team deals with it and success depends largely on luck and how your bit players step it up. I believe I heard/read that the docs won’t let Homer play while he still has blood in his eye, so I’m certain that once that clears up he’ll be good to go. Quincy looked pretty capable out there ‘til Lebda returns, although who knows if he can maintain his steadiness.
This should be a great series, ‘Wings in 6.

God Bless Gramps, and damnit be sure to tell him I said so!!! Yzerman was a hockey legend. But any veteran, they are “The Man”!!!!
And Ha ha, I’m laughing at you. I finished my Brief an hour ago—and its not even due till Friday. I haveta have time to devote to my prurient hockey interests!!!

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Hell, I don’t mind doing a little snippage for the fans of Short Attention Span Theater. I read the ENTIRE thing, so I feel entitled. Absolutely the most thorough analysis I have seen since my recent colonoscopy report. But at the end of it all, Peterboroughpete comes to the same conclusion that we do on this board.
And I quote…...
“Wings in Seven.”
Pete just took the loooooooong way to get there!
