We have our first entry in the “Replace the Fire On Ice Thing Because It Sucks” contest. Before I show you HockeyinHD‘s art though, a little investigation is required. I was perusing the LGW message boards and saw a post from Icer who pointed out something we already know. The Wing advertising geniuses aren’t exactly original.
Fire on Ice is the name of a synchronized skating team in Australia....
Also, the title of a documentary about figure skaters.....
And finally, the name of one of the forums over at calgarypuck.com.....
Woops. Guess the Wings execs have banned Google. Because, you know, if they’d done a quick search they would have found those and a few others, one of which happens to be Sasha Cohen’s biography. That one hit particularly close to home since I’m still reeling from the last figure skater expose’ I read, “R. Lang: The Hair, The Legend”.
It’s not the slogan that really gets us though, is it? No. It’s the graphic. The level of effort makes me sad.
But, thankfully, A2Y readers have become famous for their graphic abilities. HockeyInHD starts the campaign, and the contest, off with this epic piece of work.
See? It’s not so hard. A masterpiece.

Is that a composite stick or real wood? It’s difficult to tell from the drawing.
Apparently I was setting my sights a little high.
