Believe it or not, one week ago we were gearing up to play Florida. Five out of six down and life was good.  Yeah…Alex Auld had shut us down two days prior but that was the exception. 

Then the bottom fell out.  Again.  Aside from the Montreal win, we’re looking at losses to three mediocre to bad teams.  Florida, Bubba and, my god, that frigging Atlanta loss on Wednesday.

We can’t buy a goal. Bertuzzi. The PK.  The top line’s a mess and Uncle Mike can’t keep his skinners off the third and fourth.  Nothing’s working. Sadness lurks.

And yet…

...and yet, all is not lost.  Not yet.  After what most of us would describe as the most sickening 45 consecutive days in Wing history, Detroit still sits only ten points behind San Jose for the conference lead with three games in hand.

Yes.  It’s bleak now. It’s dark. But you know what bitches?  Eventually, health will be ours.  Health will be ours and normalcy will return.  And then?  Your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do…to puppies and rainbows, hookers and parades.

Striking distance is all we’re asking for right now. Ride this shit out and wait for it.  Whine if you have to. Bitch because it’s instinct.  Stress because baby Jesus tells us to. Voox, keep those mo-fauxs lined up. But, by god, don’t forget for a second which organ-I-zation we’re talking about.  Let the haters grit and gnash.  They despise you because you’re still cocky.  They’ll read this tonite or tomorrow and it will literally piss them off that you’re still confident. 

Good.  That is reality and it’s providence.

And you never know what game will signal the turnaround.  It might be tonite.  And because of that? We’ll Live Blog it.
