As Expected…The Delicate Genius Chimes In

Not surprisingly, Mitch Albom has graced Wing fans with his viewpoints.  We should have expected it.

Sure, I know.  He ignores the most successful team in the state’s history 50 weeks out of the year.  He has zero credibility in the Wings room or in the minds of any reasonable Wing fan.  Like his large buddy at the Detroit News, Albom writes exactly nothing about Detroit hockey until he absolutely has to…when the playoffs roll around.

Unless, of course, the Wings do something that disturb his sensitivities.  And, oh, they have.

When the pile cleared, Moore didn’t move. He had three broken vertebrae in his neck.

He was taken off on a stretcher.

He has not played hockey since.

Bertuzzi was suspended for 17 months.

Ahh, the selective hard returns.  Mitch’s favorite dramatic device.  Let’s try it here.

You ignore the Wings 11 months out of the year.

You have zero credibility with Wing fans or the organization.

And you’re as predictable as ever.

See? Easy.  No one does outrage like our Delicate Genius.  The king of disdain, the voice of the suffering and downtrodden bellowing from the far left.

Stick to politics, basketball, society, piano and broadcasting Mitch.  Hockey can continue to survive without you.

hilarious, and poignant.  Well done, sir.

Any writer that fluffs up the old Moore story is just pandering to car-crash journalism and should be thoroughly embarrassed at their own lack of imagination.

The only thing worse are the sheep who ingest it and feel they are well-informed.

How can he be expected to focus on hockey during the pre-season between October-Aprril when he’s busy with Oprah.

I found the byline of Albom’s story the most concerning thing:

“For one more Tuesday with five people in heaven and Morrie… and Bertuzzi.  Which I guess makes 7 people.  So sue me.”

That kind of shameless shoe-salesmanship just shouldn’t be allowed.  The Freep should step in.

Then again, they let him write stories covering events he doesn’t actually attend and post interviews with people he doesn’t actually speak with… so I’m guessing he’ll get a pass. wink
