I just received an email from The Sailor and he promises to post on Sunday. He has been without web access and is looking forward to being back home.
OK, let the comments begin!

First, excellent job on ‘Foblog’, whoever it was that suggested it. That was epic. Clearly, his last post 13 or so days agao can now be classified as an ‘Iwozoic discovery’ when it is referenced.
Second, much like Jiri Hudler becoming a legitimate top 6 forward, I’ll believe reports of Iwo posting right after I actually see his post.
Third, the notion that Iwo would be one of the five bloggers I’d meet in heaven makes two galactically risky assumptions, namely that either party would, in fact, get there.
Finally, he clearly took the Wings mojo with him when he fled the country… so thanks awfully, Chief.

Sunday ..well, now this just adds to the confusion.
Will he be liveblogging the CGY at VAN game
or
The DET at CBJ game
or
Will Mitch just ignore these and give us an update on our crazy creaking czek netminder playing next to a defensemen who has been there since the Truman administration?

IWO/Chief/Duke/Snake/Mitch/the lost Sedin triplet or whatever the heck he’s calling himself by Sunday could technically do BOTH…
DET at CBJ 5:00 p.m. EST
CGY at VAN 8:00 p.m. EST
Could be a regular “welcome home” blogathon!

You know where they don’t have internet access?
Turkish prisons.
I’m just sayin.

Thank you.
I have my moments-few and far between, and perhaps not always appropriate for public consumption, but I try.

Sunday’s with Iwo! Another day, another book. Guess we’ll have to tidy this place up and start sitting upright again. It would would be a shame for the AWOLIWO to return to a dirty Foblog!
Gabriel that internet access thing...ditto on the Ensenada jail. So I’m told.....

Good god. I finally finf myself in a spot to regain some semblance of communication ability only to find I’m now mitch with a foblog, whatever the hell that means.
Hopping a plane for the twenty two hour flight home. Live blog is a must for sunday. I’ll be fully prepared to defend my iwozaic absence.

Oh sure, IWO. You will be in GREAT shape Sunday after the 22 hour flight from hell. That’s OK, we will have some Molsons and Cheddar for you.

Chief - what gives? You’re flying? The Navy run out of boats or something???
Posted by Hoser from Downer Peninsula, Michigan on 11/17/07 at 10:57 AM ET
The two planes the Navy has were already booked.
Posted by HockeyinHD on 11/17/07 at 12:43 PM ET
There’s already been The Absence,… would this be something like Son of Absence??? Absence II???
All the comments have been mightily entertaining. It’s as if this blog, or foblog, or whatever, has a taken on a life of it’s own, sprung up from the primordial soup of beer, cheese, rum, scary prison stories, hours upon hours of lives spent glued to one chair in front of one monitor, and a myriad of other things that I’ve overlooked or are still locked away, secret in the dark recesses of our souls.

Ah, nothing like melancholic literariness. Or the literature produced when fans defect to places known for filming fairies…

Nobody around for this game??
I’m hating this team… come...join me in the hating...come to the dark side…
Posted by srt on 11/17/07 at 07:27 PM ET
Okay, is it too early to start seriously worrying about the crazy Czech’s playing abilities?
The short-handed 5-hole goals are killin’ me, Dom.
Gah.

TeamDub:
Color me very worried. What the heck was that tonight? Could the Red Wings not decline the PP? I finally, FINALLY get a chance to watch an entire Wings game and I end up having to come up with all sorts of different words that start with the letter “F” that are not cuss words (Fudge, Frack, FORCHRISSSAKES CLOSE THE FIVE HOLE!) because my daughter is watching the game with me. She even patted me at one point and said, “Mom, you are doing such a good job of not cussing.” Hasek stank tonight. Plain and simple. IWO must come back, the Wings haven’t won since he left.
Great. so the Wings gave up a record tonight of the most SH goals allowed in a game EVER. Thanks, Dom.
I’m ranting here but it was funny that one of our friends that was over tonight (and they know nothing about hockey) remarked, “Why is that goalie always so far away from the net?” Hmm, a question we have all been pondering for a very long time.
Posted by hockeychic from Denver, CO on 11/18/07 at 12:48 AM ET
Glad I missed this one.
‘Twould be ironic if Chicago beats Detroit every time but misses the playoffs because they don’t play as well against all the other teams. Common thing with very young teams, though.
Posted by Baroque from Michigan on 11/18/07 at 05:57 AM ET
Khabibulin is the man. Any other goalie would have been blown out. Our defense sucks. Bring back Chelios. Bring back Ozgood. Hasek is now “The Dominated”.
Posted by w2j2 on 11/18/07 at 06:59 AM ET
I’m already on Ozzy’s Crazy Train. I can’t take that crazy czech bastard floppin around out there. The boys need to be confident in their goalie… and after that game, well all season so far, I can’t believe anybody will have any sort of confidence in Dom.
Posted by cementslinger from Midland MI on 11/18/07 at 09:23 AM ET
Hasek = Fogoalie? I’m just asking.
Posted by Rumbear from Night & Morning Low Clouds Diego on 11/18/07 at 09:42 AM ET
The Iwozoic One was right about this (must have been more cheddar-fueled / less cheap-brew fueled than some others...): goalie controversey is upon us.
Posted by Hoser from Downer Peninsula, Michigan on 11/18/07 at 09:43 AM ET
Goalie controversy?
Enh, hardly - Ozzie is clearly the more confident, sharp ‘tender and the team plays in front of him accordingly.
Did Dom come back too soon from his “sore hip?”
Is his line of Euro-trash jogging suits not selling well?
Is he just too damn old to play like “The Dominator” on a consistent basis?
I dunno, but I now get a little cold shiver of dread when it’s confirmed Dom is starting - I pencil in at *least* one soft/out of position/mishandled goal when he’s in.
Anyone else take a guilty peek at Bryzlagov and wonder what kind of backup or tandem goalie he’d be for us?
Just sayin’, I know some of you thought it too.
Bring on the B.J.’s!
Posted by TeamDub from The gratch. on 11/18/07 at 10:23 AM ET
Hmm, from the Dominator Clothing Line website - “About Us”
The foundation of Dominator Clothing is not just based on the quality of our Fitness Apparel, but also in our commitment to encourage others to pursue an active and healthy lifestyle.
Yes, like chain-smoking Marlboros and avoiding any and all mental health professionals.
We see the Dominator brand as a souvenir that serves to remind the wearer that they have the power to live authentically as well, as empowering others along the way.
Uh, huh? Please Dom, empower me to live “authentically.”
It takes courage to make a difference. Our goal (undoubtedly five-hole - ed.) is to help you discover the courage that fits the demands of your own life journey.
Well, my life journey is being bamboozled by soft goals, Dom. Please, empower me to drink 13 fewer beers by the 2nd period by not playing like an elderly, mildly retarded Charo.

A 3-game losing streak isn’t something I’m worried about — I can fall back on the if-it-doesn’t-kill-you-it-makes-you stronger tenet. But Dom is another story. Sure, the team is saying all the right things, but what else would we expect from them but political correctness? What worries me is the possibility that this is something way more than a slow start. How does a player know when he can’t play anymore? Isn’t it when he can’t play anymore? I’m not sayin’ that’s where Dom is at… I’m just sayin’…
And is anyone else a bit uncomfortable with Rafalski lately? Rafalski should be sharing at least half the blame on Chicago’s first goal last night, and while he did atone for that by scoring one of his own, I thought Chicago had another three or four great scoring chances off of mistakes he made later in the game.
Posted by BobTheZee on 11/18/07 at 02:42 PM ET
I’m definitely in the Camp de Worry.
Rafalski particularly and our defensive play generally was horrible yesterday. Even if a goalie is playing well, how many breakaways do you expect him to stop? That was appalling but an exception.... seriously, how many times in his career has Lidstrom stumbled at the blue line and given up a breakaway in the process?
As far as Dom goes, I’m hoping that....ah, never mind… I get nervous when he starts, when they enter our zone etc…
I called for us to pursue Byzgalov; now Phoenix picked him up for nothing....what a crock…
What’s to be done?

I am not sure that Mr. Holland ignored my Oct 15 suggestion that he jump on Bryzzie. Does anyone know exactly how the waivers work? I heard it goes down some line team by team. How would that line (team by team) be set up..Divisional, standings, ..
alphabetically…
Guess I be sayin..
Did the Wings pass, or never had the opportunity ?
Posted by HockeyTownTodd from upset when blogs don’t live up to my expectations on 11/18/07 at 03:23 PM ET
Todd -
I believe the lowest ranked (worst record) team gets first dibs…
Posted by TeamDub from The gratch. on 11/18/07 at 03:29 PM ET
Thanks Dub,
That would mean only the Caps passed on the season’s biggest give-away so far. I wonder how timely was this give-away. Seems more than odd that EDM (Kevin Lowe)missed this lottery prize by one point in the standings.
Posted by HockeyTownTodd from upset when blogs don’t live up to my expectations on 11/18/07 at 04:16 PM ET
Both Edmonton and Washington are set in goal, IMO. Phoenix is about to ruin another goalie. Unless they get some help everywhere else. I don’t see it happening, but I didn’t see the Dom playing so poorly either.
So, what do ya do if your Kenny? Buy out Dom’s contract and grab a goalie?
Personally, I’d make Dom fight for the #1 spot. Ozzy gets the spot and Dom can either go with it or fight for it. And if it’s a problem in January, the persue other options. That’s what I would do.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:
