According to Bruce MacLeod’s Red Wing Corner, Todd Bertuzzi didn’t practice today, decreasing his chances for Game 1 even more.

I hope he is back for game 2, and is banging em hard in the boards while setting up pretty goals

I’m just gonna toss this out there…
Is it even remotely possible that Babs is crafty enough to let everyone believe that Bert isn’t playing, knowing full well that he’ll suit up and be fine come game 1?
Might throw a little kink in the Flame’s strategy and certainly mess with their heads a bit.
Who knows…

There’s no way that Babcock will play mind games without giving Bertuzzi practice time. This guy has played around 10 game this year and needs all the practice time he can get. I would rather have Bertuzzi in game 2 than risk further injury and play game 1 if he isn’t ready to go. Either way, this is quite disappointing. LaPointe really is giving it back to his former team on this one!

I pray to all HockeyGods above of all that is good that Bert will not be another Uwe.

Bertuzzi looked good the first 10 games, but I still question his value to the Wings due to the fact he is playing under the microscopic scrutiny of the officials. My guess is that Calgary would go to great lengths to have him removed early in the game, leaving Babblecock with a short roster, and trying to adjust.
Unable to practice before the first game leaves him very suspect for the second.

At least with Bertuzzi, we’re not on the hook for 3 more years at a ridiculous salary like we were with Uwe. If he’s done, then he’s gone in July and we didn’t give up much for him.

Say it aint so!!! I am “very concerned” about the Wings mental make-up and believe it is imperative the team take the first two games at home. Especially considering how well Flames play at the SaddleDome. We all know the Flames plan to pound the daylights out of the Wings. Bert goes a long way to minimizing the physicality of the opposing team. I plan to make my offering right now to the hockey gods to get Bert healthy.
