Bertuzzi A Black Ace?

Updated 1407 EST: MacLeod reports that Todd Stillwuzzi (thanks O-Joe) is out for Game 2, despite practicing for the second straight day.
Iwo’s alliterative analysis: Had the Wings not done what they did the other day, denying the diggers the Detroit death watch they desperately desired, this decision would most definitely have been different.
Bruce MacLeod reports today that Bertuzzi practiced today, but not on a line that would dress tomorrow.
Todd Bertuzzi is on the ice for Saturday’s full practice. He’s skating with Josh Langfeld and Tomas Kopecky. Mikael Samuelsson and Kyle Calder are skating on Robert Lang’s line. Although Bertuzzi might play in Sunday’s Game 2, the Red Wings are preparing for him not to dress.
Do the Wings even call their reserves “Black Aces” anymore? Not sure. I’ll drink on it and get back to you.

Regarding the “Black Aces” - just saw them referred to that in this article.
“There was just one too many Sean Avery exposés to suit Scotty, so he moved him down the hall. He didn’t put him with the Black Aces (regular roster players who were consistent scratches)...

Yeah, that’s what they were referred to under Bowman. I don’t think they call them that anymore, not since Don Imus was fired, anyway.
Back to Bert…
Damn, this is beginning to look like Uwe Krupp all over again. Too bad Todd couldn’t have somehow avoided contact with Osgood on that play – like, say, aiming for Ozzie’s five-hole.

MacCleod now confirms that Bert’s out for Game 2.

Rich, I guess I don’t have to tell you that the use of the term “flung like baby poo” is not only encouraged here, it’s applauded. Good on you, my friend. Good on you.

Hmmmm, I may consider copywriting “Stillwuzzi.”
At the beginning of the 2005-06 season, on the RWC board (back when it was hosted by All Sports Forums) someone linked to a Free Press article having a very favorable review of Brett Lebda’s play in his very first NHL game as a Red Wing.
As a way of making fun of Lebda’s “unknown-ness” at the time, I jokingly posted, “Good for Brent.”
It was a throw-away line, but others there started calling him “Brent” which morphed into “Bart” or some other variant and it just seemed to take off.
The “Brent/Bart/Burt” Lebda thing has since migrated to almost every Red Wings message board/blogger out there.
If only they paid royalties for that kind of stuff, I’d be rich.

“He’s skating with Josh Langfeld and Tomas Kopecky.”
Eh, what? Kopecky? Is he taking contact in practice, doing full practices? I read in early April that they found his clavicle hadn’t healed completely and weren’t going to put him back in the lineup. Is he expected to be ready if they need him later in the playoffs?
