Blogger Burnout? Yeah…A Little

Work? New Zealand? Domestic Pressures? Sure. All realistic.
But honestly…not really. Here’s what I don’t know: I have no idea who’s healthy tonite, who the starting goalie is, what Darren McCarty’s status is, whether Hank Zetterberg is going to rest during the all star break, or whether Mike Babcock has uttered a complete sentence in the last five days.
I’m back..I think. After not reading about the Wings, or even thinking of them since our last live blog/chat, I think I’m back in form. Blogger’s malaise. Blogger burnout. Whatever.
Live blog/chat here.

Didn’t miss much… you left and the Wings decided it’d be a good time to play like garbage. Reminds me of last time you went on a short hiatus. Maybe your return means they’ll play better next game.
Eh, what can you say about it? They’re still up a billion points in the conference and division, and sometimes I think Babcock craves these sorts of 3 - 6 game stretches where they play poorly because it validates him coming down on them. We know he sure loves him some adversity.

i get in the Chat Room after the game and it’s empty and i can’t read the chat. i like reading (like others have already noted) the liveblog since i’m usually working during the game or watching at the local bar.
i’d also like the point out that since we’ve gone to the special Chat, the Wings are 0-3. just putting it out there.

Alex, I pointed out the 0-3 figure to the Chief last night, he wasn’t too happy.
Since the chatrooom is still in beta, we have just been testing it out.
But soon, probably within a week, you will have access to the “chat chatter” after the game chat has finished.

I’ve wondered about that, too. I remember some years ago when the Bowman-coached Wings, in a similar struggle, were about to play the Hitchcock-coached Stars. Pre-game, Hitchcock was asked about the meeting the Wings during their slump. I thought his response interesting — that Bowman could put a stop to it any time he wanted.
I’m not saying that a coach could or would intentionally create a situation where a team struggles, but we always hear about the importance of overcoming some during-the-season adversity to prepare a team for the playoffs. So maybe a coach just might welcome a little slump… never to admit it, of course.

The “slump” seems to coincide with a few players coming back. Especially since they were among our top players, it seems reasonable it would take some time for them and the team to readjust to their presence. For some reason it seems easier for young players to step in and not affect the team’s rhythm. Probably because they play less minutes so their being out of sync has less of an overall impact on the team.

I would just second Alex’s commnents about the chat room. Living overseas I look forward to perusing everyone’s comments to get a bit more insight than offered by the msm. Ok, a lot more insight than the msm as they offer none. It helps my withdrawal…one can only stand so much curling and snooker before passing into a coma. If only they would play shinty on ice—that might help to fill the void.

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
