A terrific spreadsheet.

My thanks to Adam.

What could make it better..?

Off the top of my head, and still wondering….

Team +/- at the end of the season.  This reflects
how effective the team was at 5 on 5.  The higher
the (+), the less they relied on the PP, and the
benevolence of the officiating.  If memory serves me right… the years of early exits…well…the Wings depended too much on their PP, and when the officials put the whistles in their pockets…it was tee time for the Red Wings.

a summary of team +/- for Stanley Cup winners for the past few seasons…

07/08 - Wings #1 +49 (Ottawa #2 +28)
06/07 - Anaheim #6 +28 (Buffalo #1 +61)
05/06 - Carolina #10 +14 (Ottawa #1 +78)

I don’t see much of a correlation.

Changing the subject there Paulin, I want a Wing comparison from winner to early exit.

Not a huge project…maybe I will just do it myself.

That’s a good idea, Todd. I’ll try to put it in late tonight or tomorrow.

Here’s one stat not related to anything.

Red Wings in last 4 Stanley Cup Finals

Red Wings 16 wins, Eastern Conference 3.

16-3   .842 against the very best of the Eastern Conference.  Pretty damn Damning.

Dynasty?  Back when the Romans played hockey this was called an “Empire”.

Outstanding, and telling…

Now if only the W/conf had its own TV network like the East.

Still fired up about the pot shots from Divealanche Land, STL and down south eh?
A little statistical analysis helps put an exclamation on the retort whining about the Wings and the Wings fans. Some of those #‘s might even be some of the reason expecations are elevated and might be interpreted as us being “entitled”?
Those numbers are a credit to the management of this organ-I-zation.
