Breaking News From Dallas: They’re Still Bitter

Considering how kind we were to Dallas and their fans, you’d think they would look back fondly at the Conference Finals. Oh, I know it hurt to lose. We’ve been there. But, I guess I was just hoping fences would be mended. It’s a secret goal of mine to make peace with fans of the teams whose souls have been crushed under the skates of a Dynasty.
I guess that’s not going to happen any time soon.
From the New York Times’ Slap Shot,
Who was the villain of the series, on either team?
Too many Red Wings to list. I’ll pick Holmstrom and Draper. Punching somebody on the bench? Hilarious. Cross-checking somebody in the ear? Not as much.Do Stars fans want the Red Wings to do well the rest of the way, or get crushed, and why?
We always want Detroit to get crushed. Even in meaningless games in November. We especially want them to get crushed in the Stanley Cup final. Especially crushed. Like, extra crushed.
Still smarting over some Draper lumber, eh? Get over it. I’ll bet Morrow has. Actually, I’m thinking he was over it the minute he ran Lidstrom. Oh, and that cross-check wasn’t technically to the ear, it was more right across his frigging face…you know, if it matters.
Not just crushed, like extra crushed. Man. Strong words from the vanquished. If this series has given us anything, it’s another group of jealous, bitter, southern fans who hate dem some Wings. And that, my friends, is good for the whole family.
Happy golfing deep down in the hearta.

First off, um, WAH!!!
Second off, nevermind Ribeiro thinking that he was a lumberjack and he’s ok, regardless of the little tap that Ozzie gave him (I’ll acknowledge that he may have “started it”, but the reaction was ridiculous). And I guess the fact Ott for some reason got away with FU**ING MURDER all series is lost on you idiots too. Just because there were no penalties called on that a**hole doesn’t mean he didn’t do anything.
Like I always say to Bubba fans around here, don’t be bitter, everyone loses to us. Join the club and enjoy it. Enjoy your spring.

Here’s the eulogy I wrote for the Stars. You know, to help with the grieving process.

Dave, that was…awesome.

Dave, major kudos to you.
Dallas bawling about Detroit playing dirty? Hmm, that’s rich. Here is some good cheese (but not cheddar Chief, I save that for you) to go with their whine. Cue the violin music.

The most hilarious thing about all these eulogies is how seriously some of the commenters take it. Don’t they realize that talking about the figurative death of a season through the eyes of the opponent is supposed to be funny?

To be fair, Slap Shots could have picked a more knowledgeable and level headed Stars blogger to represent our team and our fair city.
Somebody like Mark Stepneski at Andrew’s DSP page. Paul actually stopped by the Forums at Mark’s fine site and regaled us during the series in some honest to goodness hockey talk.
Can’t speak for other Stars fans, only for myself. But I don’t see any shame in losing to Detroit.
