A few issues. First, I’ve decided Live Blogs for road games will feature lyrics specific to the state in which the Wings are playing. Oh, I know. It’s nutty. But that’s who I am.
Secondly, I’ve decided to decree something. I’m not sure if I spelled “decree” correctly, but decreeing I am. Any game in which the Wings are outshot, I’m decreeing it a loss. And my decree will be so public as to snap the Wings out of their bowls of milk (hangovers).
It’s a Live Blog bitches. A post-hangover Live Blog featuring the guy who’s picked against the Wings in practically every series the last five years. Your thoughtful prose is welcome, along with your courtesy and restraint (Stones reference).

Awesome poll question on ESPN.com:
“Would you want your favorite team to hire Brian Burke as GM?”

Well here I am late as usual. Work once again prevented me from watching the game live. Thank goodness for my DVR. Though I have a question, being relatively new to DirectTv, I have yet to figure out which feed is which and I ended up recording the TB feed. Interesting perspective. They really whined about the officiating after the consective 5 on 3s. Hmm, and the Pens fans think we’re bad?
The Wings are still very sloppy. Way too many bad turnovers and what is with all the outlet passes in front of the net? I wish Osgood would not attempt to play the puck. It is way too painful.
Still giving up too many goals and why the Wings not lock it down in the third period?

That should read, why can the Wings not lock it down in the third period?

So I checked out the News’ recap of last night’s game courtesy of Ted Kulfan (if I ever had a handle on the who’s who, I’ve lost it, but I’m currrently working under the assumption he’s a digger. If not, what the hell?) and notice the heading of “Babcock’s impressed” under the title.
The first line of the article is “This time was there was no collapse.” Now, I’m neither a journalism major nor anything near an expert, but I can tell you that isn’t much of a hook, and furthermore there is at least one extra word in there (hedging my bets on that one).
A little further down I find a psuedo-quasi explanation for the “impressed” bit.
“We started OK, then they played harder than we did and I was thinking I wasn’t very impressed,” coach Mike Babcock said of the game’s start. “It’s a 60-minute game, and you have to outwork the other team.
Ok, so, by “Babcock’s impressed” you mean he’s not very impressed at all? Does this mean the Wings actually lost the game? Isn’t it bad journalism to blatantly mis-represent what someone has said? Babcock isn’t running for office, is he? Is Teddy suddenly considering Babs to be a pathological liar? Maybe Ted was impressed and thinks the coach should be too. Personally, I wanted to puke, but we know how the media types feel about fans and bloggers, so we’ll move on.
“Chris Osgood continued his mastery of the Lightning. ” I don’t know about this one. Yeah, he won, but I wouldn’t call giving up three goals on 18 shots “mastery”. A save percentage of .833 isn’t even mediocre, Teddy. But, you know, keep up the good work and stuff.
Sigh. Dig, dig away my friends.

My take on that is “No huge lead holding, no killer instinct m@#*$#@$%&^#$!”
Don’t know about DirecTv, but with Cox all the various Center Ice channels will show a listing of all the upcoming games for the day. If they have both the home and away feeds (this doesn’t happen very often) they’ll mark the game with (H) or (A).

The only thing that has changed since opening night is the
quality of the competition. Where the hell are the SHG that
made the competitors wish they could decline a penalty.
For some perspective, go to Yahoo sports and compare the
Wings team stats with San Jose stats, or even any of the other
top 8 teams in either division.
I couldn’t figure out why the OZ was in net, but after the game
they pointed out Osgood is 17-0 against TBL.

The Mullet is down! I repeat, the Mullet is down!
Note to self: never refer to the head honcho at some other company as “the best in the business” when you know your own boss will find out what you said. Unless you’re looking for some quality time in the unemployment line.

A bad hair day for Barry!
The kids at Barry Melrose Rocks are taking it ...well. Kind of.
This may be the end, folks. The world has started spinning 10 times faster than normal and the animals are all migrating west. Something is wrong on Planet Earth.
