Chelios: “I’m Not Even Close”

Don’t get your hopes up for a quick return.  Chris Chelios told Khan(!) today that, despite his practice session yesterday, he won’t be coming back any time soon.

“The first three days there was improvement and now it’s just kind of hit a lull where it hasn’t changed, so I tried skating, see if that’ll help get the swelling and some movement,’’ Chelios said. “I’m not even close, to be honest with you.’‘

Couple of vaguely varying opinions on Darren McCarty’s inclusion on Grand Rapids’ clear day roster (playoff roster, essentially).  First…MacLeod.

Darren McCarty is on the clear day roster, meaning that Detroit thinks there’s a good possibility that he’ll be in Grand Rapids come playoff time. There are only 22 spots available on the clear day roster, none to waste.

Good point.  They wouldn’t put him there unless they expected him to play in the postseason.  But, according to Khan(!)...

...the Griffins are 14 points out of a playoff spot with 21 games remaining, so the odds of making it are against them.

Nothing wrong with either statement.  Just interesting to see who points out which facts.  Both tell us, though, that Mark Hartigan hasn’t been placed on the clear-day roster, which would indicate the Wings’ intent to keep him for the remainder of the NHL season.

I guess I’ve got one question.  Why?

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
