Daddy’s Got Datsyuk

The boys at Puck Daddy have scored.  It’s a one-on-one with the league’s best player.  No Gary…sit down.  It’s not him.

You once told the Red Wing broadcasters that you like to “dangle, dangle.” What the heck does that mean?

Now I am going to have problems with my Russian! How should I explain it? It’s like dancing rock-n-roll with a puck. You pick a puck on your stick and you dance around on the ice with it.

What kind of stick do you use to create your amazing tricks with the puck on the ice?

I use a Reebok stick. For now, I belong to them. As for the curve on my stick, a funny story. When I came to Detroit’s training camp for the first time, I had a Titan4 with a big curve. When the coaches saw the stick, they came up to me and said: ‘Bowman is not going to like it if you get two minutes for using an illegal stick.’ Right there and then, I started to change the curve on my stick to be within the legal limits.

A great Pavel Datsyuk interview…here.

I’ve copied one of the better comments from PD’s interview below.

He’s the best player in the NHL cause he makes the players around him better. A hard argument to make with the likes of Hossa and Zetterberg as linemates…but not only does he create scoring chances (often times single-handedly with defenders all around him), the opposition rarely has them when he’s on the ice. There are zero flaws in his game. Not one situation he isn’t suited for to hop over the boards. If he were North American, he’d be more “marketable” and we’d be sick of hearing about him too. If you get the chance, go to a game and watch him play. It’s just ridiculous how good he is and it’s much more apparent live when you get a better idea how fast the game of hockey really is nowadays.

“You signed with Detroit through 2014 for $6.7 million per season, which is less than what Henrik Zetterberg is making and much less than what Alexander Ovechkin is making. Why did you value staying with the Red Wings more than making millions more in another city?”

“First of all, you can’t make all the money in the world.

On the other hand, I am enjoying playing here very much. I have progressed here so much. I like everything in Detroit and love it here. And money is not the most important thing in anyone’s life.”

I love that guy and he is one of the many reasons why the Wings will repeat.Bitches.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Some Detroit fans believe the NHL is out to get the Red Wings, that there is a conspiracy against the team. Do any of the players feel that way?

I have a very particular job. My job is not to think about any kind of conspiracies, but to play to the best of my abilities.

Let me fix that for Pavel: “I have a very particular job. My job is not to think about any kind of conspiracies. The folks over at A2Y have that conspiracy angle covered, and I want to thank them for that because that frees me up to play to the best of my abilities.” smile

And, Chief, you can officially add “dangle-dnagle” to the Glossary now that Pavel has defined it: “It’s like dancing rock-n-roll with a puck. You pick a puck on your stick and you dance around on the ice with it.” Now all you have to do is come up with a rock-n-roll song title to go with it.

Look around, you have Malkin carrying his team on his shoulders.

Nice slight on Gary’s baby boy.

I racked my brain for 58 seconds and could only come up with “Wango Tango”

Wooly Bully?

I like how Dats says Oz and Conks are playing 80-90% of their potential.  That doesn’t speak much about Oz, does it?

Datsyuk may never wear the C, but you bet he’s a hell of a leader out there.

That’s a level of appreciation from someone who watched his team get Dangled I can learn to love!

No comment on Crosby in that interview, that’s just absolutely incredible.  He’s such a badass, and look how humble he is!  Whereas GBB says Zetterberg didn’t do anything special when he shut him down on that 5 on 3, Datsyuk is handing out compliments to all the league’s best players saying what a joy it is to watch them all.  High road taken, yes.  But omission of key entities is truly insulting to some.  As is saying “Nobody hates us” about Pittsburgh and other venues.  HA!  Amazing.  I don’t think he says these things on accident, especially not in russian.

you can hear it if you search “dangle” at https://www.masterbeat.com

the opening lyrics are a good fit…

Snapshot the big top comin’ your way
Footsteps so heavy they’re deafening me
Wooden bench keeps me company, second string put me in
INsert the ink pen, jugular vein
Break out the lunchbox calling your name
Take my hand and we’ll walk thgough oblivion, kiss the gun

“big top comin’ your way”  Circus anyone?

That is a smart move, to do the interview in Russian.
