Dammit…No Turco In Hockeytown Tonite

I was gonna type a few words about what a joke Sports Illustrated has become, but you guys are handling that quite well already.
Instead? Our bitch is riding pine tonite in Hockeytown. Alex Auld is in net for Bubba, Sr.
Marc Crawford said this is a good place to play Auld, and that Turco is scheduled for tomorrow against Columbus. I never should have assumed I knew what was going on, and I should have asked yesterday about the goalie situation, but there was no indication to me that this was happening.
Turco is healthy and skated extra today.
Oh…and a heads-up for tonite’s Live Blog…
...it’s not going to be Zeppelin. Recent revelations regarding the employment of a great majority of the 19 has led me to go in another direction, if only for one night. Guess the artist, if not the song, and you win a fabulous prize in the form of a straight-to-DVD movie poster featuring Michael Farber, Gary Bettman and Thid Rosby. The movie? “Dumb, Dumber and Donkey Puncher”.

The psychological troll tricks are afoot again. You can’t convince me that you haven’t murdered someone before.

Guess the artist, if not the song, and you win a fabulous prize .....
Warren Zevon: “Lawyers Guns & Money”?
Jackson Browne: “Lawyers in Love” ?

No Turco?
Is there a problem with his hockey haunches?

Now, that’s rich.

It seems that several of the 19 have mentioned being engineers lately…
so my guess is “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne.
It just fits on so many levels…in addition to the “engineer” thing, there’s “the Hasek,” and (of course) Ozzy—even though he’s still recovering from a virus in his hockey haunches, so he won’t be playing.
A few other possible “train” songs:
—“Train Kept a Rollin’” by Aerosmith
—“Train, Train” by Blackfoot
—“I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” by Barney the Purple Dinosaur
The only other possibility is that—based on collective brilliance—the vast majority of the 19 are pharmacists. In that case, the song would have to be
“(She Blinded Me with) Science” by Thomas Dolby
Posted by YzermanZetterberg on 11/18/09 at 04:37 PM ET
Hm, any chance one of the 19 wants to hire me when I’m done with law school? I might not be much for legal research, writing, or advocacy but I’d be fun to have in the office. Just think, how nice would it be to have someone in the office to discuss the intricacies of Red Wing Hockey, all while counting it as billable hours. Plus, my particular brand of sexual harassment is especially hilarious - so… that’s a plus.

Why would we focus on a team with 8 less Cups than the Wings?
No Turco tonight. That tells me Dallas knows, and is done trying to fight it. It’ s a house of horrors for Marty, and they’re giving someone else the start instead. That makes it a game again.
I won’t guess the song. Your musical tastes are much too alien for me, I’m afraid.
Posted by Primis on 11/18/09 at 04:46 PM ET
Here are all my guesses:
Don’t Give Up Peter Gabriel
Brother, Can You Spare A Dime Bing Crosby
Fred Jones Part 2 Ben Folds
Blue Collar Man (Long Nights) Styx
Shuttin Detroit Down JJ RIch
Computer Took My Job Maurice John Vaughn
Cafe On The Corner Sawyer Brown
Johnny 99 Bruce Springsteen
Allentown Billy Joel
Unemployment J.J. Cale

Chief, many thanks for the post on Dennis Polonich. I loved how fiercely he played the game.
My guess for the theme song for tonight’s game: California Sex Lawyer by Fountains of Wayne.
CaptNorris5, I suggest you take the Architectural Sex Law class offered at most law schools. It will teach you how to design and construct ways to screw your clients out of their money.

Believe you me…1099 jobs are a bitch…but it’s kept me drafting (barely) instead of doing other random jobs the past year. Even retail work in this place seems hard to come by.

Brutal day on the job, nothing like the “19” to cause a smile.
Too bad our bitch Turco isn’t playing tonight, almost always equals a win for the Wings at the JLA.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious for Babcock to give his death stare to Crawford tonight, ala Bowman.

My pick for the song du jour: Take the money and run
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 11/18/09 at 05:49 PM ET
Most likely it is a song already mentioned. I don’t think these were mentioned, but I have only the time to skim quickly.
“Money” Pink Floyd
“Baby You’re a Rich Man” Beatles, a song I believe was about manager Brian Epstein and Lennon’s actual lyrics for the song not exactly what we know and love today
Posted by Hochs from The Kingdom of Fife, Scotland on 11/18/09 at 06:00 PM ET
any Blind Faith song.
Yeah that’s stupid. And a bit inside.

I’ll hop on the Zevon bandwagon (see what I did there). It’s the first thing that came to my mind, anyway.
I hear he wrote “Excitable Boy” after meeting Todd Bertuzzi.

I HATE lawyers as a profession - unprincipled, amoral, two-faced pestilential parasites who could be used for scientific experimentation if it wasn’t for the fact that they are farther away from the human species in physiology than rats are. I wish they would all get Ebola.
As individual people, some of them are fine - I just can’t think about what they do for a job. You guys are all pretty cool, for example.
Although politicians are much much worse - so at least lawyers have that going for them.
********
And dogs and cats have haunches. Not people. Very odd terminology.

@ Primis “Why would we focus on a team with 8 less Cups than the Wings?” truthfully, if you’re going to throw that argument out, you’re really only up 4-3 now…Pens weren’t fortunate enough to play when it only took 8 wins to get a cup…but whatever helps you sleep at night.
It is great how much the Penguins are in all your heads though, you can’t even do your nightly live book club without mentioning them in the first Paragraph.
