Detroit News: Lebda Will Save Us All

Update: Find a bag, puke in it, and put it next to a co-worker’s desk. Datsyuk’s out tonite.

So much brilliance out there.  It intimidates me.  Have you seen this? Comment if you’d like. It made me chuckle.

Yes, now that I think about it with my pharmacist’s coat on…the Wings will be much, much better with Lebda in there.

That’s your Detroit News with their finger on the pulse.

Do not forget this.  If you haven’t predicted the Wing who will score the 19th goal of the year, you’d better get hot on that.  Five goals tonite and we’ll see a winner…and that better have a couple meanings.  Put your prediction here and you’re in the running for two free passes to the Legends Game in Toronto.

Ha ha…thank GOD we have Brett Lebda returning to the lineup.  The offensive defensmen who doesn’t contribute any offense.

Just caught this cheery update from Khan(!)—TPH with the line of the season:

Pavel Datsyuk (upper-body injury) did not practice and will not play tonight against the Kings. He is listed as day-to-day.

“He’ll be missed, but other players will get a chance to play more, get a chance on the power play,’’ Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom said. “So someone else has to step up.’‘

Here are the lines from practice:

Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary
Leino-Filppula-Williams
Helm-Abdelkader-Eaves
Holmstrom-Draper-Maltby
May (scratched)

Lidstrom-Rafalski
Kronwall-Stuart
Ericsson-Lebda
Meech (scratched)

Osgood
Howard

At least the Willy-Wally-J Will line is back together.

I expect our third line to really provide us with an energy boost tonight.

Of course, that’s assuming those are the lines we’re going with.  Maybe being on a line together will give Bertuzzi a much better look at what we’re expecting of him as far as crashing the net front.

Fixed.  As long as we have Zetterman in this lineup, who needs Pavel Datstrom?

“I’m more disappointed about not being able to play with the Red Wings,” Franzen said.

At least the Mule has his priorities in order. Wings first. Olympics second.

I hope Babbles is thinking the same way. Bitches.

Lets Go Red Wings!!!!!

Looks like this “Zetterman” thing is gonna have some legs. Could take on a life of it’s own.

As much as I love Ericsson I don’t think it’s a good idea to pair him with Lebda or Meech.  Johnny is still learning his position also.  We need some experience on the third pairing.  Who do the Wings put with Lebda or Meech?  Let’s hear some points of view from the 19.  Disco Stu?  TPH, Raffy or Kronner?  Hit me with your best shots and your reasons why.  My choice is either Stu or Raffy.  Stu is more of a stay at home type but can make boneheaded plays in the defensive zone.  Raffy has the experience but paired with Lebda or Meech would make for a very small third pairing.  What are your choices?

I’d put them both in a room with Hannibal Lecter.

Honestly?

Lidstrom - Kronwall
Rafalski - Ericsson
Stuart - Lebda

That would be me.  With the loss of forwards, it’s now even more-important to have QB’s on the top 2 pairings to make The Pass and start the play, and I’d say Lidstrom on 1 and Raffy on 2 would be a nice little change-up.

Kronner can then bust heads with Nick, Ercisson can maybe benefit from Rafalski and the way he plays… and maybe Stuart can have a monster game to make up for the inevitable bone-headed things Lebda is going to do.

Stuart -  ... ah ... ah ... Howard?
(Can we use two goalies, one on defense? with full pads? side-by-side with Osgood in goal?)

hmmm ...  hmmm

Now that we’ve got Drapes, Malts and Lebda back, the only way this roster gets any better is if we sign Chuck Norris.

I love the potential of the Helm-Abby-Eaves line (not so hot on the Draper-Maltby-Homer line, but what do I know?).  Love it.
