Doing It Right Down In Nashville

As some of you may recall, I used to live in Tennessee.  One thing I learned about that state and about the residents there is that they are patriots to the core.  “God Bless America” is a song that stops you in your tracks down there.  The Pledge of Allegiance has a place in every school, every church and every home.

And they love the military.  In about a week they’re gonna prove it.

Dirk Hoag, On The Forecheck

Next Monday’s home game against the Detroit Red Wings is going to be special for a number of reasons; there’s the 6:00 Central starting time, the fact that the game marks the Preds’ lone appearance on Versus this season, and of course it’s the first meeting with Nashville’s most-hated Central Division rival.

But it’s also an opportunity for Predators fans to help out members of the military and their families, as they cope with the stresses that combat duty places on their lives. Follow after the jump to read about the Featured Charity for that game, Not Alone.

The “Not Alone” campaign was created to assist military families deal with combat stress.  Read up on that if you have to. It’s a real issue and it’s affecting military families.  Consider donating if you can and at the very least be aware that there are organizations out there designed to assist, and there are hockey teams who deserve credit for helping the right kind of charities.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
