I went to the source, AlanaH in Vancouver. After she predicted a 6-0 Canuck win, she told me that the most famous rock band out of her little town was Trooper…I did a little digging.
Turns out I’d heard some of their ditties but hadn’t put two and two together. Probably because I was too busy wondering if a certain captain is “intense” enough to do the job…eh?

Evening all.
While I’ve read, but not had the time to comment because I had to get to bed to wake up early for the game, I will say this: the cap is going up this year. Regardless of what the newspapers say. It may not be a substantial increase, and indeed the PA may lose its cash in escrow, but the cap is a function both of the equity value of a franchise (which being tied to fixed expenditure and cost certainty is constantly rising) and of total revenues of the League as a whole, which for the ‘08-‘09 season have already been realized in the form of television sponsorship, advertising, and merchandising and endorsement deals. Takings at the gate and attendances are gravy and account for a small minority of League takings.
Man, I hang out with Adrienne (not Dater, a friend of mine who does consultancy for European soccer teams) too much…
Saying that, I still don’t think we’ll be keeping The Big Three. Zetterberg, most likely. Then either one of Hossa or Franzen. Then the role players, because they are the heart and soul, underappreciated hard workers and grinders that muck it up in the corners and the tough areas, providing the solid foundation, the bedrock from which the shooting stars take flight.
Man, I drink too much. But I do know this. Pi was a great movie for people who think too much.

FSN Detroit had something like 3 hours of wings stuff on before the game. Some funny interviews with the captain (some guy on sports.yahoo called Nick boring…) and a look at The Captain’s career (learned some stuff about the knee). Good stuff.

I’d be surprised if LePuke even makes the team. Too many skilled forwareds to have room for a decrepit fossil, and besides, it’s being coached by a former Wing coach (which doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s prejudiced against the douchebag, but that he’s prejudiced in favor of skill).

Chief, that’s why I’m only a die hard Wings fan. Don’t watch any other sport with the same interest.
I did, however, run into a diehard Lions fan that owns the local “we-refill-your-ink-cartradge-and-sell-you-somebody-elses.” here in Clemson. Had just bought the NFL dtv package at the start of the season. The depression in his eyes was too much to bare. Tried to convert him… But sometimes people just want to hurt themselves.
