Eat It Strickland: Lidstrom May Play Sunday

Well, so much for that Strickland prediction of a “two month” injury to Nick Lidstrom.  Whew.  Deep breath, since we all believed that garbage.

WDFN, Khan(!) and the Anti-Digger are all hinting at a Sunday return for the captain.

MLive

Mike Babcock said he could return to the lineup Sunday at home against Nashville.

“It’s a possibility,’’ Lidstrom said. “I felt a little sluggish out there, haven’t skated in two weeks, skated (Monday) and felt OK, so I’m hoping it’s going to improve the next few days so I can play hopefully this weekend.’‘

Thanks to Okie, Czar of the KK Forum, for the pointers.

Stop listening to Dwayne too, Andy.

But what would you expect from a site like that.

Dwayne stealing information, no way!

Maybe it’s the same as the Red Wings injury time dilation effect, but in reverse.

Like how “seven to ten days” mutated into “about three weeks” from the Detroit side, maybe “two months” mutated down to “about three weeks” from the St. Louis side.  There must be a space-time rift between the two cities!

MacLeod reports that Ericsson is sticking with the team even if Rafalski skates against the Blues tomorrow. Its likely then that Lebda gets the short stick. As much as we would like not to see Lilja, his save in Buffalo was the highlight of a fairly decent night. He’ll play Wednesday.

I haven’t seen much of Ericson this year since I only get to see what’s on Versus, HDNet, or NBC.  How has he looked?  Strengths?  Weaknesses?  The replay I saw of his first goal looked like he’s got a good point shot, although everyone hits the net once in a while so I’m not sure if it was just luck.

I nearly registered for Andy’s site just so I could post a “neener, neener” comment. But then realized someone, somewhere would one day be data-mining that info and they’d think I
A) read Andy’s drivel.
B) might possibly be interested in what that twit had to say
C) that could somehow translate into even one penny in revenue for him

Instead I’ll do it here:

Andy… you’re a twit. You couldn’t find your ass with both hands and a map. I don’t know why anyone continues to read that steaming pile of offal you call a column. Someday, some…day, you are going to be found out for the hack you really are, and when that happens, I’ll be here to point and laugh at you and what a miserable, failure you’ve become.

That is all.

That explains why I’ve woken up in St. Louis(e) with the sensation of lost time and no idea how I got there!  It had nothing to do with the quart of vodka and the stolen car!  And to think the judge didn’t believe me.

Strickland and Klessel must pull their information out of the same crack.  Or maybe they’re just on it.  Either way, I find most journalism contemptible lies, and I don’t see why I should treat them any differently.

Ericsson has looked good. As Mickey Redmond has said, “He doesn’t need a roadmap!”

He needs to get more consistent defensively, but he moves as fast as any man in the league that’s his size, and stickhandles incredibly well considering that size. His shot is great, so you are correct there.

In the San Jose game, he got caught flat-footed quite a bit. That was his worst game, but he wasn’t awful. You could tell when the Sharks were forechecking hard or bringing the puck in with speed he sort of thought to himself, “Should I back up, or step up?” and that cost him. Once he plays a season or so I imaging it’ll be second nature for him to always step up and try to take the guy out. As a result he might get burned here and there, but that’s a small price to pay, IMO.

It’s pretty unbelieveable that the guy wasn’t taken until the very last pick. Again, it shows how far ahead of the league the Wings are in terms of scouting, drafting, and player development. It just seems crazy that not one other team thought, “This guy is big, he can move, let’s see if he’ll keep playing defense”.

You can tell that he used to be a forward/center because he’s really assertive in the offensive zone, and his skating shows it as well. But that’s a good thing.

I think he could be the real deal. Emphasis on “real”.

Not quite sure what to make out of being labeled a Czar.

I like the GDT because looking at the numbers helps me understand how the Wings, as well as the opposition, are playing. I understand numbers and trends.

I don’t always understand the factors that go into the “WHY” of a trend which is why I like to read the Emperor and the Chief.  Generally, reading “KK” and “A2Y”, I learn something—often in a way that makes me laugh; and I love to talk hockey (which, aside from my 15 y/o son is quite impossible to do here in OK).

The Forum, it is just the numbers—logical (sort of, at least to me).

Anyhow, thanks for the Czar appointment Chief, I think.
