Unbelievable game. And hats off to Cristobal Huet. Who could have ever expected him to play to that level in this game? Not me. And none of you did either, not even the Hawk fans.
Chris Osgood played the best playoff game of his life. It’s as simple as that. It was a Hall of Fame performance from a HOF goalie.
And this guy can just go ahead and suck it.

Baroque, you still to this day make me so happy with what you have done for my g’pop… really my father (don’t know my bio dad to this day, anyone out there know a Wolfarth? If his name is Kim kick him in the nuts for me….) From this point on, this season and every season after that, all my posts will end with “For TCD.” He saw a lot of hockey and he would be pumped right now. He would have been pumped last year too…. this year we got thru the ducks. In 7. We have now gotten thru the Hawks in 5. I honestly didn’t expect this. I really still have a tear in my eye…. Not sure why gramps had to leave for this to happen…. I guess he saw a bunch of championships on his own time before I came to this earth…...

Just watched the replay of the winning goal… did anyone notice a resemblance between Helm’s celebration and Kane’s from the tying goal? Was Helm taking a dig at Kane’s kneel and scoop celebration? I dunno… but they sure looked pretty close.

It’s someone who’s writing a “Hey, Cheli is old and still in the league!” story, has the copy finished, but just needs a couple of quotes to plug in. That sort of thing happens all the time.

My friend and I were at a local sports bar. At one point we had the Wings on 4 screens, inlcluding one massive projector.
Eventually we got cut to 1 screen by Lakers-Nuggets and a Yankees blowout of the Rangers.
God this town sucks.

Anyone can claim to have called it afterwards, but for what it’s worth, I was surprised by Huet’s game 4, not his game 5. He was certainly the best goalie in the conference finals. (I don’t mean that his play in the conference finals was the best, but that out of the 8 goalies in the conf. finals, his career save% of .917 was head and shoulders and elbows above everyone else’s.)

I switched to Lakers-Nuggets after versus coverage ended. The crowd seems excited, but after hockey, it’s like watching grass grow.
Maybe the Saturday start is a good thing.

I haven’t collected cards since, whoa, I’m afraid to say I had almost 2 full seasons of baseball cards and they disappeared from the upstairs of my parents house in Shiawassee County, would be worth a fortune.

As for the Pens, lets see how they do against a team that actually has a defense, kinda like last year when they breezed through the Eastern Conference, and then couldn’t score a goal in Games 1 and 2. Western Conference hockey is a completely different game.
And we now have a coach that played in that system, not too long ago.
We have an extra day off. You have a few injuries. Would sound dangerous to any other team, but apparently not to the reigning cup champs.
Regardless, it’s going to be a great series. I can’t wait for Saturday.
You might have been the last team to win back to back cups, but the last team to do it against the same team were the Habs in the late 70s.
And I also find it funny that before last year (in order), the teams you beat to win the cup were:
Philly
Washington
Carolina
Sid picking up the POW trophy on top of that, if you’re a superstitious person like I am, we win.
I say Pens in 6, because the first two games aren’t going to end like last years’ first two.

Evening Pen(i)sblog. By now I am sure you have heard the sobbing of Geno and Thidney. They are spooning trying to console each other right now, because the big bad Wings are back.
And so are the A2Y 19. I’ve seen you got kicked out of your home a couple of times this year, and made your way over here. Your new entrance is in an alley where gay prostitutes service their clients. It’s fitting given all the Gay-rotica you guys post up around this place.
You and your little team better pray that Li’l Gary Bettman’s scheduling tricks gives you an edge with our injured players. 3 games in 4 nights. Make sure Geno gets his rest and takes his vitamins, we don’t want him gassing like last year.
And in case you haven’t noticed, the Wings out class the Pens in all departments. Our fans are better than yours as they are not only old enough to legally drink, but we actually know the rules of the game.
We have the deepest set of forwards who can play in key PK situations. Not like Thid and Geno who use PKs to cuddle and keep warm sharing body heat.
Our defence will stifle the flightless, no external genitalia, birds into tears once again. You have not faced a complete defensive system since we handed you your asses last year.
Ozzie is the best goalie in the league during the postseason. Some might not say elite, but I sure do.
And Uncle Mike Babcock will bitch slap Bylsma. Did you see the hat he wore during the Winter Classic? If you did you will know, Uncle Mike is a pure pimp, And his pimp hand is strong.
Sure the Pens are determined this year, and talented. But they are still our bitches because they can’t overcome everything we have and can. Wings in 6 bitches.

So I did me some scouting on the Puffs, and they have this guy named Evgeni Malkin. He’s had a monster playoff so far this year. If he had played for the Puffs last year, with HOSSA on the same team, they might have won.

When the wings beat the Pitt Pens (I like that, Pitt Pens, makes them smelly)
Motivation, and superstition (yes, watched the last three cups before last year) will drive me to watch it a few times before Sat.
Nothing else really matters to me except when they mention Feb. I really, honestly believe that TDC had a bit to do with last season in Feb. I really do. He died. Feb 3rd. He watched them since the 50’s and we f-ed up right after he died. He got to watch a bit of that Col game Chief passed on. Made him happy.
We won last year, and I really thought at the time that it was for him. I’ve realized it was for me. To sit there and cry (happily) about a championship without my Grandpa (really my father, not in the technical sense you *#$%@&) was painful. Was never in the same room with him when we won.
I want to win this next series. I want to let the world know that our Detroit Red Wings are the team. THE TEAM.
Dynasty? I think it is deserved before this year.
Ozzy? HOF? *#$%@&. Are you kidding me?!? Before this year he was locked in. After this regular season everyone questioned him. Question no longer. I don’t care if we win or not, Ozz in is the HOF. End. Of. Story.
I’ll fight whoever votes against him in his first year to get in.

MALKIN: Yes, to be honest, it’s not that scary. It will be the same Detroit, they have the same team. They added maybe one or two players. Our team is also a little different. But all the guys are burning with desire to win the Cup. It was visible in this series. The guys gave it all every shift they took. I think the final will be a little different [from last year]. I am hoping for the best. Of course there is no fear and we will play only to win.
Because Hossa’s really just a “maybe” sort of player.

Actually, all that means is, by beating the Pens again this year, by extension, we will have beaten all the previous 4 teams we’ve beaten in the finals to win the Cup AGAIN. Thanks for pointing out that history is on our side.

Btw, I don’t know if anyone else noticed it, but Helm’s game winner, to me, was eerily similar to Hossa’s called back game tying goal against Anaheim: puck squeaks between the post and goalie, goes sideways across the goal mouth, and is stuffed in, except this time it counted. So I guess based on the league’s response to the Hossa non-goal, the ref must have blown tonight’s call by actually allowing the goal?
Kinda a year of redemption for the Wings, if you can call it that the year after a Cup win. First we get revenge on Anaheim, win a series at home finally, then finally win a Game 5 clincher, in ot no less. Definately exorcising some demons here…

I hurt the feelings of the girls at Pen(i)sblog. IP banned. And it was only a 6/10 on the sarcasm meter. I hope the girls grow a thick skin. The playoffs are no place for the weak and cowardly. And to think it is near impossible to get banned around here. I guess where kids get hurt feelings and egos, adults can laugh it off.
And now I can laugh it off. They couldn’t take a little ribbing at Pen(i)sblog. I always enjoyed the company around here better. NO gay-rotica photoshops either.
