Franzen Out With MCL

The latest rounds of tests on Johan Franzen’s left knee have revealed damage that will keep him out indefinitely, according to Helene St. James’ blog.
“They didn’t do another MRI; I guess they had someone different look at it, and there was a little bit of fluid,” coach Mike Babcock said Monday after the morning skate. “I guess what that tells you is that there might be a one-plus or a two-minus MCL sprain. That means he’s not playing and not available for a while. I don’t see him for the weekend for sure.”
Babcock said Franzen is showing no ill effects of the concussion.
Anyone have any objections to Helene St. James fleeting up to Deep Digger captain? Her blog is updated more consistently. Her writing is generally better. Khan(!) may be getting a little too comfortable in his captaincy. It’s a tough decision. I’m struggling with it.

I’ll stick with Khan! Thank you, he at least, seems to push the envelope when it comes to contrarian thinking. At least he doesn’t sound like a paid PR mouth piece ala Kulfan

I don’t like Khan, I appreciate his information, but generally disagree with his opinion. Helen seems to be on top of things.
Loosing Franzen is a pretty big loss. He wins important battles on the boards that often go unnoticed.

Ansar gets to post his own thoughts more than anybody else, but St. James has embraced the concept of multiple updates per day and post-game blogs instead of Kuflan’s “ten things” posts. Khan’s also dogged it a bit since he did his Tigers coverage, but I’m not sure why.

Bruce MacLeod gets my vote. He writes for the Macomb paper, but he posts frequently over at RWC. Lots of updates from the morning skates and practices, and he frequently talks with Babcock and Holland. I don’t think he has a blog though.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Helen has been the best of the DD’s for quite some time. She seems to care about her work and put a little effort into it. I vote for her.
