Update: 1243 EST. Bruce MacLeod reports Uncle Mike says Cleary’s ribs aren’t broken and that “he’s day to day”. Mike Babcock is a lying liar so take that for what you will.
Mid-September in the Navy and all initiated Chiefs are busy yesterday and today. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that. Beers and anchors will get you more info.
An exhibition loss...no big deal. Another two more injuries (at least)? Now that’s irritating.
It would appear that Igor Grigorenko may make the team, despite his best efforts not to. If he does, it certainly won’t be due to any brilliance he’s flashed on the ice. Nope. If he stays in Detroit it could very well be because Dan Cleary’s feeling some pain today, and doesn’t know when it’s going to stop.
Dan Cleary took a hit to the ribs and left the game early.
Already having missed some time early in training camp because of a hamstring injury, Cleary could miss several more days.
“It doesn’t feel good right now,” Cleary said.
We like you Dan. So your pain hurts us too. Bruce MacLeod says those of you optimistic for a quick return are just plain dumb.
Khan(!) labled the injury as “significant” and mentioned the cat scan and x-ray.
So...Cleary’s out for the time being. Oh, and MacLeod--unlike the Diggers--also mentions the fact that Kopecky’s got a groin thing going on. Mandatory for all Wings, as you know.
Don’t worry though. You may not be able to see Cleary or Kopecky tonite when the Wings play the Pens, but you’ll still have the chance to see that core group of superstars.
Woops. Maybe not.
The Pittsburgh Penguins haven’t had their morning skate at Joe Louis Arena yet, but their game roster indicates that Sidney Crosby won’t play in tonight’s preseason game against the Red Wings. Neither will Evgeni Malkin, nor Marc-Andre Fleury, nor Sergei Gonchar.
Ahh, well. It’s just an exhibition game. You’ll just have to wait until Pittsburgh comes to town later this year.
Oh, sorry. Pittsburgh doesn’t come to Detroit this year, except for the all-important tilt tonite. Looks like you’re just going to have to watch on tv when the Wings travel there during the regular season.
Yeah....no. No games at all with the Pens. Thanks Gary. Ass.
Speaking of asses. Is there anyone here who doesn’t recognize the fact that the 1977 reference in the “about” box to the right is sarcastic? Just checking. And speaking of idiots who don’t recognize that as sarcasm...anyone but me hoping for, even though it’s exhibition season, a pair of Wing ass kickings the next two games?

I’m happy any time the Pens get their asses kicked, so I’m right there with you. Maybe not as passionate about it as you are, but I am hoping you guys drill them and their idiot “fans”.
That team should be gearing up for their first season in Oklahoma City, Houston or Vegas right now.
And for Notre Shame to be double-digit home dogs to IKB Sparty is hilarious. Here’s hoping that IKB Sparty doubles down on the spread and doesn’t allow a single point.

Exhibiton games—to me are just quality practice time. Could care less about the score, care only about two things: (1) quality of play, and (2) absence of injury.
So heres my two cents: FUC@, SHI@, and DAM#!!!!! Cleary, sore ribs, Kopecky (kick to the ) groin, Zetterberg, that indecipherable back thingy, Rafalski, hip flexor (whatever the hell that is).
Good freaking night!! Wings can fill a wing of the infirmary ward, and have yet to play a reg. season game. The Tea Leaves are reading ominous already. You know its bad when you have jitters about the season, and it hasn’t even started yet.
Way to Go Chief!!! Ruin my weekend before it gets started. Ever think about posting good news on Friday?? FUC@
Ohh and MICH is a 2 1/2 point HOME dog to PSU—
but me, unlike the Chief will give some of you a happy note to end this post,
