From the CBC.ca:
The Avalanche have totaled 19 goals while winning four of their last five, including a 4-3 victory at Ottawa on Wednesday. . .
Colorado has outscored opponents 9-1 in the first period of its last five games, but has been outscored 9-5 in the third. The Avalanche’s only loss in the last five games came after they allowed four goals in the final 20 minutes and fell 4-2 to Anaheim on Dec. 22. . .
The Avalanche have won four straight away from home to improve to 12-7-4 on the road this season, and now have a chance for their first five-game road winning streak since a six-game run Jan. 19-March 11, 2002. They’ve also won their last three visits to Joe Louis Arena, including a 4-3 shootout win Oct. 17.
Nothing on tonights tilt from the Denver Post. The Av’s did play at OTT last night, and won 3-2; but not before allowing OTT to score their 2 goals in the 3rd to make a contest
Khan(!) has cheery news, Eaves has the flu and is out, and Leino is in - Jimmah between the pipes:
Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Eaves will miss tonight’s game against Colorado because of the flu. He hasn’t skated the last two days.
Ville Leino will return to the lineup. Coach Mike Babcock said he wasn’t sure who he would put in Eaves’ spot on the line with Darren Helm and Kris Draper, saying he’ll see how the game unfolds. Kirk Maltby has been practicing there.
Here are the lines they skated with today:
Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom
Ritola-Filppula-Miller
Draper-Helm-Maltby
May-Abdelkader-LeinoLidstrom-Rafalski
Lebda-Stuart
Meech-JanikHoward (starting)
Osgood

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
