Matinee at the Joe today. Wings have a chance to win this series, and Unce Mike does not want to go back to PHX: “You don’t want to give them any life whatsoever. They got a good team and good goaltending. We’d hate to tempt fate and have to come back (to Phoenix) and win three games on the road.’’ I say, Amen to that.
This is the Wings chance to deliver, Under Pressure. If there was ever a time DET’s playoff experience comes to the fore, it should be today. Game On(!), Bitches.
Eaves gets a goal today(!)

Hoping to change the mojo from the last game at the JLA after Game 2 in PHX (a 2-4 loss), DET had practice yesterday. Khan(!) was there with notepad:
“We dropped the ball last time we went home (a 4-2 loss in Game 3). It’s very important how we handle this and respond,’’ Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. “You don’t want to give them any life whatsoever. They got a good team and good goaltending. We’d hate to tempt fate and have to come back (to Phoenix) and win three games on the road.’’
Babcock changed the routine Saturday, holding a short practice at a local rink (the Joe was unavailable) so players could get their legs moving, since there is no morning skate Sunday due to the 2 p.m. start.
Getting started on time is especially important in the first game back from a Western trip. The Red Wings, who’ve gotten excellent goaltending from Jimmy Howard the last two games (one goal against), will continue to rely on their role players for speed, physicality, strong defensive play and solid penalty-killing.
Babcock said the bottom six (the Kris Draper-Darren Helm-Patrick Eaves line and the Drew Miller-Justin Abdelkader-Dan Cleary line) were better than the top six through two periods in Friday’s 4-1 Game 5 victory.
“Sometimes when you’re a skilled guy and you’re in a series like this, where there’s no room, you get hard-headed about getting through the neutral zone,’’ Babcock said. “The guys that are working for a living, they don’t do that. They know they got to flip it in, that’s why they’re having more success. . . .
Helm, Eaves and Miller are key components to the penalty-killing units that have prevented the Coyotes from scoring on their last 19 power plays dating back to the third period of Game 1.

Thanks Monkey…knew you would understand…two cups of coffee and life is improving.
The Great Un-Asked Question…...How’s come the Wings home games get the start times juggled and the late night, west coast, playing hockey at midnite on the body clock, games NEVER move?
Just axeing…................

There was madness in any direction, at any hour. You could strike sparks anywhere. There was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning.
Heyo lets go.

Let’s do this. This little one of mine hasn’t yet lived through a Red Wings loss (in three days here) and I see no reason to start today.
