George Malik Is A Frigging Showoff

There’s lots going on, so much of it. So much information.  Homer’s in surgery.  Happy’s on Czech radio, with AndrewinAnnarbor working sound engineer…maybe.  Writers have predictions for awards.  Babcock’s on WJR.  The lockout was a waste of a year because nothing’s changed and the hard cap the owners DENIED has been surpassed already. Thanks Gary. Ass.

News, news, news.  Go Snapshots.  George the superblogger has it all.

Georgums is absolutely tireless, and rocks my lame ass.  If I ever need breaking news, or news of any kind on the Wings, it’s Snapshots first and foremost

I saw the bit about the cap on Spector’s site.  Frankly, I’m fine with it, being a fan of a team that functions well with a higher cap.  The small-market, non-traditional teams can thrive or go the way of the stegosaurus, and it won’t matter to me either way.

Soundboard, Chief?  I’m not that skilled.  I just get the guys glasses of Becherovka and tonic. cheese

This is my favorite exchange from the Hudler interview:

Ian Willoughby: How did you celebrate?

Jiri Hudler: “We celebrated in Detroit - there was a million and a half people, it was great, it was unbelievable…”

Willoughby: There was some kind of parade?

Hudler: “Yeah, it was a parade, 1.5 million people. It was unbelievable - a great experience.”

Yeah, I’d say there was some kind of parade.  smile

Waiting to find out what was REALLY wrong with Franzen. Has any truth detector out there dug up anything?

Subdural hematoma.

Subdural hematoma, Scott H - essentially a bruise on his meninges (membranes surrounding the brain).  Once it cleared up by the blood being reabsorbed like any other bruise, there was no lasting problem, unlike a concussion which can have lasting effects.

Here’s George’s post on the issue:

A nice simple explanation for what can be very serious.  You need to read the link from KK.

yeah, a subdural hematoma and a bruise aren’t the same by any means

Both internal bleeding and can be minor or fairly serious, depends on the extent and location - broken blood vessels in the meninges are obviously far more serious than broken blood vessels in the elbow from banging it on a door jamb, but the underlying physiology is the same on the cellular level - important point is that it wasn’t a concussion and since it was apparently small (since the clot was resorbed on its own without requiring surgery) there will be no lasting effects.

Could have been serious, but wasn’t since they picked it up early and treated it properly.  If he had continued to ignore his headaches it would have been a much more serious situation, possibly resulting in a stroke if the blood clot broke loose and floated around in the CSF and lodged somewhere in his brain.

You too, kids, can enjoy blogging stardom when The Chief recognizes you for having no life whatsoever wink wink wink

I took a good look at the phenomenon of hematomas, and if you want to be really, really technical, pooling of blood is a hematoma, whether it’s caused by what becomes a “bruise” or internal bleeding.  Just sayin.’

No knock to the noggin isn’t simple.  Your talkin to a person who was lucky to walk away from a car accident in 89, that resulted in a closed head injury and three years of rehab.( hence my spelling errors and math skills and lousy writing skills, hehe)  Those darn headaches are like a part of my body still.  But it can always be worse.  Glad Franzen didn’t have to deal with much more. Pretty serious though.  Lets hope the mule doesn’t suddenly have a bout of short term memory and start hitting his teammates in the corner LOL

Roberts going after his head was really sick! angry

My you talkin phrase brings me to the famous ” you talkin about practice, practice, you talkin about practice. How is practice gonna help me make my teamates better? Practice ?”  Best Damn had the 50 biggest sports meltdown interviews and that was in the top five.  I nearly peed my pants watching this one!
