Shane, Avs Talk
Wings fans, feel free to poke fun at the team we cheer for - it’s what you do in sports - but never question the loyalty of our true fan base.
Garcia had long hair and makeup and was wearing an Avalanche jersey, according to authorities.
It’s a Game 2 Live Blog.

It’s 1440 EST and no word on whether Forsberg’s playing. How the hell does that happen?
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 04/26/08 at 01:40 PM ET
If anyone is having issues with their cable/dish/local carrier not showing the game for some reason, here’s a link to try:
http://www.hockeywebcasts.com/
I haven’t messed with it yet, so proceed with caution.
Go ‘Wings.
Posted by TeamDub from The gratch. on 04/26/08 at 01:41 PM ET
I’m sure they’re trying to keep a lid on Forsberg so NBC can reveal it.
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 04/26/08 at 01:42 PM ET
How about the gastrointestinal derangements of Josey? Any news on our favorite sieve?
Posted by JimS on 04/26/08 at 01:45 PM ET
What a failure on the part of the Diggers, MacLeod included. Game is in roughly twenty minutes and no mention on any of their blogs about Forsberg, or Maltby. Both are skating in warmups.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 04/26/08 at 01:46 PM ET
Maybe that’s why they call it a game time decision…
Give it another twenty minutes or so…
Posted by mudshark from Divetown, Colorado on 04/26/08 at 01:47 PM ET
... But I’d be shocked if Floppa doesn’t at least try to play.
Posted by mudshark from Divetown, Colorado on 04/26/08 at 01:48 PM ET
Ha, well Channel 4 in Detroit is actually doing a pre-game, reporter live from JLA, players skating hehind her on the ice, no mention of Malts or Foppa on the ice.
Posted by Paul from Motown Area on 04/26/08 at 01:49 PM ET
Not true, Paul - they’ve mentioned Floppa skating at least 3 times… and shown Malts skating.
Posted by TeamDub from The gratch. on 04/26/08 at 01:54 PM ET
Huh. In San Diego, NBC’s just showing fat men on surfboards.
I guess it beats golf.
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 04/26/08 at 01:54 PM ET
Same here in DC. My wife just asked: “Are all Hawaiians fat?”
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 04/26/08 at 01:55 PM ET
Dub, thanks for the link… Got the TSN feed, working great.
Posted by mudshark from Divetown, Colorado on 04/26/08 at 01:57 PM ET
Sweet Mud, glad it works!
Enjoy the game!

Star Wars Deal or No Deal.
I’m stupider for having seen that commercial.
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 04/26/08 at 01:59 PM ET
I have the surf Charlies, too. Don’t miss the golf imposition, though.
Posted by JimS on 04/26/08 at 01:59 PM ET
Emerick, as you all just heard and so I must question why i’m typing this: “forsberg might play.”
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 04/26/08 at 02:00 PM ET
I have four hawaiian brother-in-laws, and yes. We say big-boned. But i say fat, because the other sounds wrong.
Anyone know a good site to listen to the game? I’m thinking of turning down nbc
Posted by AndrewB from TN on 04/26/08 at 02:00 PM ET
Ah, the insectoid head of Mike Emrick. Always a refreshing sight!
Posted by JimS on 04/26/08 at 02:01 PM ET
Iwo, the only question is why Emrick was talking like Yoda. Injured he may play. Groin strong it is.
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 04/26/08 at 02:01 PM ET
Emerich has enough trouble not reverting to his home planet’s language. Sometimes the nuances of English escape him.
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/26/08 at 02:02 PM ET
Douche with the Forsberg teaser.
Wow...that sentence just made my skin crawl.
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 04/26/08 at 02:03 PM ET
Heh. McGuire just gave it away immediately after putting us in suspense prior to the commercial break: (paraphrased) “And it doesn’t ... look good for Forsberg.”
Posted by Matt Saler from Grand Rapids, MI on 04/26/08 at 02:03 PM ET
Watch McGuire’s face when he says Forsberg and pay close attention to his eyes. Is it love? ha
Posted by AndrewB from TN on 04/26/08 at 02:04 PM ET
So, is the game on yet? Cuz TSN is just showing Sportscenter crap… Methinks this feed might be delayed… :(
Posted by mudshark from Divetown, Colorado on 04/26/08 at 02:05 PM ET
Hola Gang!!
Stuie is in, I would think;
Question is who is sitting??
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 04/26/08 at 02:05 PM ET
Andrew, I think some of the caked-on head makeup just dripped into his eyes is all. His head is actually absorbing light…
Posted by Gabriel from San Diego, CA on 04/26/08 at 02:06 PM ET
I don’t know why Ryan Smith doesn’t just surrender and finish out the mullet.
Posted by JimS on 04/26/08 at 02:07 PM ET
McGuire’s eyes keep flashing back and forth between Ryan Smyth’s eyes and lips.
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/26/08 at 02:07 PM ET
Floppa not playing—WAAHHH!!!
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 04/26/08 at 02:07 PM ET
Draper, Texas Ranger…
LOL!!!
Chuck Norris for sure!!
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 04/26/08 at 02:09 PM ET
Man no doubt on the draper/norris deal. a new glossary entry may be in order soon.
Posted by IwoCPO from Washington, DC on 04/26/08 at 02:11 PM ET
When does this Verizon guy’s contract run out? Sheesh.
Posted by Matt Saler from Grand Rapids, MI on 04/26/08 at 02:12 PM ET
What do you suppose the over/under is today on how many minutes the Wings’ will play like their absolutely trying to humiliate the Av’s?
Me = 40 minutes of 100% effort,
Av’s carry the play for 15 minutes;
The other 5 = even
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Hockey Netherworld on 04/26/08 at 02:13 PM ET
JLA looks great on TV today. 46 entries and the game hasn’t even started yet. Get a life Hosers!

Give him a little push Nicky!
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/26/08 at 02:16 PM ET
RWBill, the record is 422 comments. I may start the live blog at noon on Monday just to beat that.

Hannan’s out today too, says St. James.

About Abel to Yzerman
Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977. No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y. Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation. There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature. Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that. Your suggestions and critiques are welcome:

How Others View The A2Y 19
"Hell, I guarantee the content co-opters at Abel to Yzerman were about to link this article under the heading “Bitter Blues Fans” again right up until they just read that last half-sentance. Thanks but no thanks, you Kukla hangers-on."
--St. Louis Game Time
"I realize it’s the slow summer season, but can this guy tone down the tough-guy histrionics? His posts are fatiguing on an otherwise excellent site."
--A2Y Fan, Eternal_Fields
"I constantly marvel at how Bill (IwoCPO) and his disciples at Abel To Yzerman can be so pompous and full of themselves throughout every regular season, but come playoff time they collapse into wavering puddles of stress and nervousness as they anxiously await the impending and unavoidable collapse of the Red Wings in the post-season."
--Mile High Hockey
"I hate them because they are better than us. Of all the frigging teams…"
--In The Cheap Seats
"It's just a shame that the most classless, uneducated, lowbrow fanbase in the league gets this sweep. Red Wing fans don't deserve their team."
--Thhom
"I really don’t care what fans or bloggers think."
--Drew Sharp
"Why is it you Detroit fans are still so classless when you have such a classy hockey team, with such a professional GM and gentlemen players? I understand that the author of this blog is a manner-less cad, but the rest of you should be better."
--A2Y Fan, Jeff Beaumont
"Have you ever *read* A2Y? Its the most opinionated, juvenile stuff i've read."
--Paul Nicholson
"I actually like the Detroit team and have a sh&% load of respect for them, but their fans are the biggest douches next to Canadians."
--KStewy, PensBlog Commenter
"Just when it looks like we have bottomed out, the 19 hit a new low."
-A2Y legend, Hockeytown Todd
"And for the record, I don't hate the Red Wings, I hate their fans."
--Douche Bag at Puck Daddy who isn't Wyshynski
"You’re nothing but a douchebag ****, c3po. Go f**k yourself, and learn something about hockey in the process. Nothing ruins my day more than seeing your byline on the kk page."
--Hector, A2Y fan, statesman, Pittsburgh Chapter of Jonas Brothers Fan Club President
"I can just imagine the kindergarten teacher’s reaction when the tyke blurts out 'Mommy says Gary Bettman is a f*cking f*ckface! He wants to give ‘Rosby the bad touch.' ”
