Wings fans, feel free to poke fun at the team we cheer for - it’s what you do in sports - but never question the loyalty of our true fan base.
Garcia had long hair and makeup and was wearing an Avalanche jersey, according to authorities.

But the Dive are so confident after Game 1. They proved they can play with the Wings. It was a moral victory. They’re being beaten at every phase, in every zone.

Homer’s good, according to Uncle Mike. I’ll believe it when I see him on the ice.

Draper showing why he is a Selke winner
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 04/26/08 at 02:42 PM ET
K. I believe it. Homer’s back on.

The Wings need to keep this up for the rest of the game.
Posted by Matt Saler from Grand Rapids, MI on 04/26/08 at 02:44 PM ET
So holding the stick in front of the net is legal now?
Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 04/26/08 at 02:45 PM ET
Wings gotta be 2 to 1 in the offensive zone.
Wonder if Al tilted the ice before the game
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 04/26/08 at 02:45 PM ET
Exactly Matt. This kind of pressure and intensity.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 04/26/08 at 02:45 PM ET
DAMMIT MATT!!! go kill a freaking cat or two
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 04/26/08 at 02:46 PM ET
Shots are 2 - 1, chances are 2 - 1, offensive zone is 2 - 1,
hmmm very nice

“Ed, don’t you think that even though the Avalance are losing, they’re the better players, as well as prettier and better in bed?”
Posted by Clark on 04/26/08 at 02:48 PM ET
Chief, your Dive blog-buddy at http://www.milehighhockey.com has a serious superstition about mentioning the Dive’s goalie name/number/nickname at all during the GDT.
He especially hates when peopIe comment that a good save was made or Theordore is playing good. I suggest we dutifully start posting some encouraging comments on Theordore just to mess his mojo.
Posted by VooX from Behind the Bar in the Hasek Club Car on 04/26/08 at 02:50 PM ET
got away with some sketchy neutral zone play.

Done.

Keep your eye on Foote when Filppula is on the ice from now on…
Posted by Matt Saler from Grand Rapids, MI on 04/26/08 at 02:53 PM ET
Foote turned into that. Val isn’t that kind of player.
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/26/08 at 02:53 PM ET
Awww. What a shame. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Take your medicine Foote.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 04/26/08 at 02:54 PM ET

players still should have the presence of mind to pull back on the check when that happens. should have been a penalty. there was one the Avs committed last game that was let go, so now it’s even?
Posted by PaulinMiamiBeach on 04/26/08 at 02:55 PM ET
Jose looking awfully good in the 1st period, as opposed to last game
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 04/26/08 at 02:56 PM ET
I think he did pull back as much as he could. I would not have cried foul if the refs had given him a penalty though.
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/26/08 at 02:57 PM ET
Man, that was a really depressing Edzo story, getting traded while his wife is in labor.
I’m pretty sure Doc Emrick has a better command of this language, and probably any other language, than anyone here will ever, to the posters way back.
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 04/26/08 at 02:57 PM ET
and by typing “anyone here will ever”, I prove my own theory!
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 04/26/08 at 02:58 PM ET
I think the 2nd period of this game will tell quite a bit about where this series is headed.
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 04/26/08 at 03:00 PM ET
I wish nothing but the best to the Colorado Avalanche this playoff season, and good health and better play to their award-winning goaltender, Jose Theodore. ![]()
Should have been a penalty, but fortunately no injury - Foote is a pretty big guy. Sometimes those get missed if the official turns the wrong way to avoid a hit himself.
Nice start, but Detroit had a nice start in the last game as well.
Posted by Baroque from Michigan on 04/26/08 at 03:00 PM ET
Steve, not sure what the hell you were trying to type or say there, but I’d say a few here have a command of the language that could rival your hero doc’s.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 04/26/08 at 03:01 PM ET
Hopefully, nobody will remind the Dive in the locker room that points are not awarded to which team spends the most time behind the opposing team’s net fighting for the puck. Good job locking that down by the Wings this period.
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/26/08 at 03:01 PM ET
Could they command it while having to fit everything they’re saying in between 3 blowhard failed coaches?
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 04/26/08 at 03:02 PM ET
Steve, don’t be ridiculous. I haven’t labored under a double major for four years in college to have my language skills unfavorably compared to a sports announcer, regardless of his level of experience.
Posted by Matt Saler from Grand Rapids, MI on 04/26/08 at 03:03 PM ET
Jesus, that clip reminded me how awful Gary Thorne was.
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 04/26/08 at 03:03 PM ET
Goodness Baroque— not ever known you to be the glass is half-empty type!
Posted by Jeff OKWingnut from Quest for 12 on 04/26/08 at 03:04 PM ET
Alright Matt, it was a stupid point to get on, but I bet your English would worsen spending week after week with Milbury, Edzo and DC, eh!
Posted by Steve from New Jersey on 04/26/08 at 03:05 PM ET
I bet your English would worsen spending week after week with Milbury, Edzo and DC, eh!
Now that’s a good point. Agreed.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 04/26/08 at 03:05 PM ET
If the comment total after one is tripled, it’s 423. Beating the world record by 1.
Posted by IwoCPO from Sunny San Diego, bitches on 04/26/08 at 03:06 PM ET
your English, your vision, your sanity…
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/26/08 at 03:06 PM ET
Matt, you ain’t no Doc Emrick, ain’t no one else liked him neither.
Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 04/26/08 at 03:08 PM ET
I understand it’s the playoffs but I really have no idea what interference is anymore.
Posted by moocat on 04/26/08 at 03:08 PM ET
True. Those three won’t be winning awards for the use of the English language any time soon.
By the way, if any of you are looking for a web hosting company, I can’t say I recommend site5. OtW has been down for about 5 hours today and I haven’t been able to get a word of explanation out of the “24/7” customer support folks.

Anybody else see Draper in that Ridgeline commercial?
Posted by J.J. from Kansas on 04/26/08 at 03:08 PM ET
Good thing the 423 don’t have to be well thought out. Well we’ve seen this domination of one period before, it’s only one shot, and one of those by the Avs is going to get in sooner or later.
Posted by RWBill from the Land of 12 in 12. on 04/26/08 at 03:09 PM ET
I see Draper every time I watch Eddie Izzard live, but that’s beside the point.
