Every once in a while, at Game 2, a small but vocal band of Hawk fans made their presence felt. They were in one of those overhang deals, kind of a private box in the 202 section. They’d pick and choose their spots and yell it in unison.
“Detroit sucks.”
Idiots in the crowd got angry. They swore and pointed. A few drank some more and yelled more bad things at those people. The Hawk fans laughed and taunted the idiots.
But when Dan Cleary scored to give the Wings a 2-1 lead, something strange happened. Two entire sections, hundreds of people turned at once, peered up at the Hawk fan box and waved. All at once waving. It was awesome.
And I’ll tell you this, no matter how much you hate the Hawk fans...those guys handled it well. They laughed along with us and took it. And when Sammy pooped in a box to end it, those guys shook a few hands before they left. Pretty cool.
Tonite? It won’t even be close. Tonite? If you’re a Wing fan in Chicago you’re not safe and that’s just the way it is.
Because everyone knows what this game means. Wings win and this bitch is done. Over. Hawks? Not so much.
Half a dozen to a dozen.

Wasn’t the SCF game in 1998 against Washington both 1) on the road in Washington and 2) had the Wings down by three as well?

Well, to be fair, we were down 2-0 before the hose job and Pahlsson just made a nice redirection. Gonna be tough to call this game stolen...might be best to skate around, wait for the judges marks, and regroup for Sunday.

what should have happened: the kronwall hit silences the crowd, he’s a hero to detroit players and fans, havlat’s out for the game, the wings get pumped up, they score to cut the deficit to 2-1 before the end of the first.
what has happened: kronner kicked out of the game, crowd gets more riled up because the hit was declared “illegal” by gary’s officials, more PP time for Chicago, they score to make it 3-0 right out of the gate in the second period.
ugh.

I’ve given up on this game. I’m done...just laughing now. This is bullshit officiating, and we’ll get our makeup calls on Sunday. We split the games in Chicago and I’m okay.

There is more than half of the game left. We have seen our boys effin kill it towards the end (the 3rd)
Lets see how this goes.
We need Pasha back, no doubt....no effin doubt.
I still think we have 12 without him. I have my reasons. I have reasons to commit that to type soon.... we shall see.
And to that lets get a grip mentality. This is game three.

Wish I were as confident as you, Gabe.
Another mitigating factor for a possible Kronner suspension: the call was made by a linesman, not a ref. Maybe they’ll make the right call and realize that Kronner’s already been punished too much. The analysts, and everybody who’s watched the game for ages and knows the game, agree that he has.
Big surprise, nothing for that after-thw-whistle BS.
There’s the makeup call, though.
