Going Deep

Craig Custance came up with a good idea.  He ranked the NHL offices in terms of organ-I-zational depth.  Number 1 shocked me.  No, not really.

1. Detroit Red Wings: I think it’s hard for any organization to compete with the Red Wings when it comes to executives at the top. You have the architect of it all in senior vice president Jim Devellano, arguably the best GM in the game in Ken Holland, Team Canada GM and future NHL GM Steve Yzerman, the guy I’d hire tomorrow to run my organization if I inherited an NHL team in assistant GM Jim Nill, and the best European scout around in Hakan Andersson. It’s not hard to figure out why the franchise is great year in and year out.

About Abel to Yzerman

Welcome to Abel to Yzerman, a Red Wing blog since 1977.  No other site on the internet has better-researched, fact-laden and better prepared discussions than A2Y.  Re-phrase: we do little research, find facts and stats highly overrated and claim little to no preparation.  There are 19 readers of A2Y. No more, no less. All of them, except maybe one, are juvenile in nature.  Reminding them of that in the comment section will only encourage them to prove that.
